General Atomics, in cooperation with the Italian Leonardo, installed a new Seaspray 7500E V2 radar on the MQ-9 Reaper drone in the MQ-9A Block 5 version, which focuses on maritime activities.
MQ-9 Reaper tested with Seaspray 7500E V2 radar
The MQ-9 Reaper is an example of a combat UAV (UCAV), which can primarily carry out reconnaissance and intelligence missions thanks to advanced observation systems (including a radar with a synthetic aperture, a laser rangefinder or an electro-optical set). In addition, it can carry up to 1,360 kg of weapons suspended on a total of six nodes, such as laser-guided bombs or missiles of all kinds.

Its maximum speed of 490 km / h and a range of 5,900 km, with the simultaneous possibility of reaching an altitude of 15,200 meters, clearly indicate the great strategic potential of this UAV combat. Especially with the right equipment, such as the 7500E V2 radar, which is the largest and most efficient Sea Spray AESA radar and is an improvement over the proven 7500E model. It is equipped with upgraded processor and receiver technology to meet the changing requirements of reconnaissance, observation and reconnaissance missions, offering a range of up to 592 km.
