The Maker flew for the first time. What can eVTOL from Archer Aviation do?

After 18 months of work from the announcement that Archer Aviation will be launched in the air in 2021 to start demonstration flights, the company has finally managed to fulfill its promises. So the eVTOL Maker took to the air for the first time, with an important milestone, but there is a lot of work to do before reaching its top speed of 240 km / h and flying 96 km.

The Maker is an autonomous two-seater demonstration aircraft from Palo Alto that passed its first hover test after take-off on December 16, coinciding with the 118th anniversary of the Wright brothers’ first flight in 1903. This eVTOL is a prototype unveiled in June that still has a lot of challenges ahead. The company will now begin testing it for horizontal flight by testing the effectiveness of its six front tilt propellers, allowing it to go into cruise mode using the wing lift.

According to the company, by 2023 we will be able to see the traditionally piloted four-seater eVTOL, which will be the first to enter mass production. No wonder, because it is difficult to imagine basing your business solely on the two-seater eVTOL, although these are the ones that will probably see a green light after approval by the FAA to see how the first electric powered lifts will perform in practice.
