The new firmware for the Ryzen 3000s should reduce PC boot times

It appears that future BIOSes for AMD based platforms AGESA 1.0.0.4 Patch B (SMU v46.54) will not only improve the turbo boost frequencies of the AMD CPUs, as announced in recent days, but it will also reduce system startup times.

To say it is MSI, which had already anticipated over 100 improvements for the new microcode. The Taiwanese company has tested the new microcode – which will be available on the X570 motherboards from the end of October (in some cases it may already be available) – recognizing startup times improved by up to 20%.

The test was carried out with a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU (very popular on Amazon), an MSI MEG X570 Godlike motherboard (the top) and two 8 GB memory modules.

It must be said however that, as underlined by MSI, “given that the boot time to Windows varies according to the different configurations of the storage subsystem, we did the test based on the boot time to the BIOS“.

In short, perhaps you will not see a 20% effective improvement in starting up the Windows desktop, but some progress should still emerge.

The new BIOS, among other things, will support Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G APUs on MSI X570 motherboards (Amazon) and the RAID of drives with SATA and NVMe interface.

The update will arrive on the 300 and 400 series motherboards during November, more precisely the 400 MAX series will receive the new firmware in mid-November, while the other motherboards will have to wait for the end of the same month.
