The RTX 3080 Ti will be a power monster, but the RTX 3070 isn't a joke either

Incredibly powerful, with a huge number of CUDA cores and high operating frequencies. If the next generation of NVIDIA video cards deliver on their promises we may be facing biggest step forward in performance since the GTX 1080.
At first we were a little suspicious of the numbers circulating online, but after seeing an Xbox Series X with 3328 dedicated computing units in the GPU, why should we doubt that much an RTX 3080 Ti with 8192 CUDA Core? Obviously we are talking about numbers far from confirmed, but it is clear that both AMD and NVIDIA want to significantly increase the Core Count of the next generation of video cards. Not only the 3080 Ti, even the less expensive models will end up on steroids, as emerged from a recent leak.

So much more power

Leaks, by their nature, are not always reliable. Often this is invented and nothing-based information, but there are sources that have proven more accurate over time. The leaked specifications come from the Twitter account of Chiakokhua, a former engineer who in the past predicted the "chiplet" design of the AMD CPUs and who released the block diagram of the Epyc 2 CPUs. In short, we are not facing the last arrived in the world of leaks. A few days ago he posted on his twitter account the image that you can see in this article, then removed but intercepted by Guru3D, which shows the specifications of the new NVIDIA GPUs.

Obviously, the RTX 3080 Ti, based on the GA100 chip, with 8192 CUDA Core and clock boost frequency of 1750 MHz stands out. 256 RT Core and 1024 Tensor Core. The current top of the NVIDIA range, the RTX 2080 Ti, offers 4352 CUDA Core and a 1635 MHz boost clock in the Founders Edition version, with 68 RT Core and 544 Tensor Core.

If this is truly the RTX 3080 Ti the performance increase will be enormous: higher clock frequencies, CUDA Core slightly less than doubled, but above all RT Core almost quadrupled, confirming that this could be the generation that will take Ray Tracing to another planet. We must also consider the performance increase due to the new architecture and production process at 7 nm: a CUDA Core Ampere should be able to perform more calculations than a CUDA Core Turing, for a performance increase that will go beyond the mere numerical increase of computing units.
The RTX 3080 is no exception, thanks 4608 CUDA Core, frequencies of 2000 MHz, 144 RT Core and 576 Tensor Core, numbers that place it above the current RTX 2080 Ti. The RTX 3070, with 3584 CUDA Core, frequencies up to 1900 MHz, 112 RT Core and 448 Tensor Core, on the other hand, is positioned well above the RTX 2080, especially as regards performance with active Ray Tracing, thanks to the RT cores almost tripled. Same thing for the RTX 3060, which easily surpasses the current RTX 2070.
Unfortunately, as Chiakokhua seems more reliable than other leakers, we cannot be sure of this data. The fact remains that, so far, all the rumors about the next generation of NVIDIA GPUs have shown stratospheric numbers. It is true that many small leaks make no certainty, but if these are the premises, we will see some really nice ones in the next few months in the PC field.
