The Tu-22M3M bomber has just made its debut flight after a series of ground tests to check radio-electronic equipment, engine and artificial intelligence. Everything went smoothly and the update may soon be available for all TU-22M3 bombers
The Russian company United Aircraft Corporation has stated that the modernization will start in 2019, and the first designs will go to the regular army from 2021. The update gives bombers much greater combat potential and range of operation.
Former Russian Air Force Commander Viktor Bondarev, who now heads the Defense and Security Committee in the upper house of the Russian Parliament, says the new version will even be able to carry hypersonic missiles. The Russian army will receive a new generation of bombers that will be able to change the fate of many battles.
