The Russians developed active camouflage for people and vehicles

The latest type of camouflage will be presented at the Army-2018 fair in Moscow this coming weekend. It works like a chameleon. It is able to hide ground units from unwanted sight.

If you believe the announcements, the camouflage designed by the Russians changes its color on a regular basis. It adapts it to the environment in which the soldier resides, thanks to which it blends better with the surroundings. The solution allows not only to change the color, but also, for example, to imitate the movement of leaves waving in the wind.

The full version of the project will not be presented during the Army-2018 trade fair. Viewers will be able to see the camouflage helmet in action. The technology is extremely mysterious and little is really known about it. According to the information provided by the CEO of Rostec, it is electrically powered. If necessary, it can hide not only infantry units, but also mechanized ones, e.g. combat vehicles and tanks.

The upgrade is part of the Ratnik-3 program. It assumes 10 years of work on improving the equipment available to Russian soldiers. So far, 120,000 sets of new equipment have been delivered. The packs contain new types of weapons, gadgets and protective suits. Futuristic camouflage may be released soon. It is also known that work is underway on exoskeletons that would increase the strength and endurance of the combatants.

While the sets containing basic and fairly cheap elements were to be intended for infantry, it seems that more expensive gadgets, such as the described camouflage or the aforementioned exoskeleton, can only be used by a select few. Of course, I’m talking about the roysian elite, or Spetsnaz.
