Tesla 6 months ago announced that its new computer for the latest Model S and Model X electric cars, had a new custom GPU based on AMD RDNA 2.
Six months after those statements, the computer used in the new generation cars was finally disassembled and examined.
Tesla’s New Plaid Car Computer!
The computer of these cars has a custom Ryzen integrated chip based on Zen1 rather than a Zen2 based chip as rumored. The model number is “YE180FC3T4MFG” and does not appear to match any existing product, so the specifications are not fully confirmed.
According to youtuber Ingineerix, the Ryzen APU is a 45W quad-core TDP APU with 0.5MB of L2 cache and 4MB of L3 cache.
The computer has a discrete and dedicated card based on the Navi 23 from the RX 6600 series. This model is likely equipped with 28 compute units (and not 32 as previously thought), which means that the 1792 Stream Processors have a frequency around 2.8 GHz. Tesla has not confirmed the clock speed, but its own CEO, Elon Musk said that the GPU offers console-like performance with 10 TFLOPS of performance.
In addition, the system is equipped with LG Innotek ATC5CPC001 Wi-Fi / Bluetooth module, uses a Quectel AG525R-GL modem, Realtek RTL9068ABD Ethernet and also two DSPs (ADSP-SC587W SHARC + Dual Core DSP and D21584 SHARC + Dual Core DSP).
