With the next update of Windows 11 versione 22H2, AMD has planned to introduce a new driver that should improve GPU performance in OpenGL. what emerges from the forum Guru3Don which, through a post, The Creator user shared the results of some benchmarks carried out with the new driver.
With the previous update, AMD focused on optimizing with the use of libraries DirectX 11, still widely adopted today by numerous indie games as well as, of course, by older titles and some benchmark software. Specifically, the Radeon solutions in these circumstances struggled to achieve the performance proposed by the competition.
With the latest update, AMD managed to improve the performance of Radeon GPUs in DirectX 11 up to 30%managing to get in line with NVIDIA. Now, however, it would be the turn of OpenGL for which the same is true of DirectX 11. These are libraries also used by some productivity software such as the suite Adobe Creative Cloud.
As you can see from the screenshots, a version of the driver is shown 31.0.12000.20010 which would be the new update integrated into the Windows 11 update planned for second half of 2022. The images show a performance improvement with Ungine Valley which reaches the 49,5% bringing the performance of the Radeon RX 6800 XT to rival those of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080.
Similarly, in Ungine Superposition the same improvement can be observed as in the 49,5% compared to the current driver.
