The Urwerk UR-111C is a watch designed by Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei. At first glance, you can see that the new model is trying at all costs to break the existing standards. Speech incl. o an analogue-digital display that is not on the top but on the side of the watch.
Housing UR-111C has a housing made of bronze or steel. The whole thing looks like a cross between a car engine and a pre-war radio. Winding the watch may seem slightly problematic because it does not have a crown. What distinguishes the described model is primarily the location of the display. A similar solution has already appeared in the case of CC1 King Cobra. According to the designers, the position of the display on the side means that the wearer does not have to turn the wrist to check the time.
The watch displays the time in two ways. In the corners, time is displayed by a cone mechanism, while in the center we see a linear mechanism. Seconds are on the other side of the watch and are displayed every five seconds.
The cylinder is made of anodized aluminum and nickel treated with the LIGA technology. The surfaces were finished by graining, grinding, polishing and decorated in the so-called côtes de Genève. UR-111C is waterproof to a depth of 30 meters, has an anti-reflective coating and a 15-millimeter thick casing. The limited edition contains a total of 50 copies, and the cost of a single copy is over $ 130,000.
