They list the Core i9-12900KS for $780, it has a base TDP of 150W vs. the i9-12900K’s 125W

Although Intel presented its new Core i9-12900KS with a 5.5GHz boost during CES 2022, the company has not yet confirmed its launch date or price. Now everything indicates that we could know these details soon, since the first listings of the processor began to appear, indicating that its arrival is just around the corner.

Apparently in the posts posted by @momomo_us, the Core i9-12900KS will be priced at $791 in its boxed version, and $780 in its OEM version, quite high prices that make it clear that it is a special edition premium model and not a processor for anyone.

The listing also confirms that the PL1 (Power Limit at base frequency) of the processor will be 150W, up from 125W, so its PL2 (Power Limit at boost frequency) could be 266W if it is also raised by 25W vs. at 241W from the i9-12900K. Removing these power limits, as most Z690 motherboards allow, we wouldn’t be surprised to see consumption of 350W or even 400W considering that the i9-12900KS has a single-core boost of 5.5GHz and a multi-core boost of 5.5GHz. 5.2GHz. In this way, we will not only have to invest a fortune in the processor, but also in a good motherboard with solid VRMs, and a good cooling system.

As we mentioned before, it is not yet known when this new Core i9-12900KS will arrive, so we recommend that you stay tuned to HD Technology to be aware of the latest information.

What do you think about the price and power limit of the Core i9-12900KS? Do you plan to buy this processor or do you find it unnecessary so much?
