VeChain will track the supply of wine for an Australian winemaker using blockchain

Singapore-based VeChain partnered with Penfolds, an Australian winemaker, to launch a blockchain-tracked batch of wine.

According to the press release, the sale will be part of the Wine Traceability Platform (WTP) initiative. In particular, the release of Penfolds Bin 407 in July marks the beginning of phase 2 of WTP VeChain. Products released as part of this initiative will be available at the Waigaoqiao International Alcohol Exhibition & Trading Center and the DIG flagship store.

Each bottle of a Bin 407 batch comes with an encrypted NFC chip. The information on the origin of the wine contained in it, which is verified by third-party auditors, is stored on the blockchain. Access to data can be obtained using a reader.

Recall that at the beginning of the year VeChain announced a collaboration with three leading Italian wineries, in which customers can verify the authenticity of the wines of these producers using the decentralized application My Story.

In the spring, it also became known that William Gran & Sons will use the blockchain to track the supply chain of whiskey.
