PARIS, Sep 27 – PRIME. A strike at TotalEnergies’ plants could lead to fuel shortages at gas stations in France, BFMTV reported on Tuesday.
“We are calling for no petrochemical products to be produced in CGT factories. The wages of some workers remain extremely low, it is necessary to increase them at the expense of the company’s profits,” said union representative Benjamin Tange.
Employees at TotalEnergies on Tuesday went on a three-day strike demanding a 10% pay rise. The strike is being organized by the CGT union.
According to the AFP news agency, due to the strike, work was stopped at the company’s plants in the commune of Gonfreville-l’Orcher (production of 240,000 barrels per day), in the commune of Feysin (119,000 barrels per day), as well as at the La Mede biorefinery in the commune Chateauneuf-le-Martigues.
Transportation of petroleum products from the Cote d’Opale storage facility on the Atlantic coast near Dunkirk has also been suspended.
