YouTube Giving allows YouTube creators and qualifying nonprofits registered in the US to easily create fundraisers and place them right next to their videos and live streams. Most importantly, YouTube takes care of all the logistics and covers all transaction fees (or at least it will cover during the testing period…), so all donors can be sure that the money raised will go straight to the person or organization.
The tool will initially only function in the USA and Canada. With YouTube Giving, authors can encourage donations in a number of ways that will help organize a willing group of people to help. One of such functions is to be, for example, matchmaking, under which the donors will receive badges visible next to the nickname. During the live stream, there is also the option of making payments via the super chat. In return, users will highlight their messages.
The tests should start soon, but this is not the end of the road ahead of Google. This one will also pamper YouTube Giving and take into account the criticism of the creators. So we can expect that ultimately this tool will be much more complex than it is today.
