3D printed electric tricycle made of plastic scraps

70 kg of plastic converted into an electric tricycle. This is the main reason why this ZUV was created at all, because it was created to, among others, to present another way to use disposable plastic. It was used to make a filament, which was then used by a 3D printer to create the entire frame.

Especially for the exhibition, an electric tricycle was created from 70 kilograms of plastic waste

This electric ZUV (Zero-emission Utility Vehicle) is a conceptual design that was created primarily from plastic waste from the supermarket. The Austrian design studio EOOS NEXT, which implemented the project under the order of the Museum für angewandte Kunst Wien (MAK), is responsible for it. Therefore, it can be seen at the Climate Care exhibition until October 3 this year and it is worth mentioning right away that we will most likely not see this project in mass production.

The order from MAK was for an electric vehicle design whose frame would be produced locally and inexpensively, while the remaining components would also be supplied by local workshops to “simplify maintenance, customization, repair and upgrades”. Finally, an electric transport trike was chosen, which was created with the use of industrial 3D printing robots in cooperation with The New Raw from Rotterdam.

Finally, this tricycle offers seats for two people and storage, stretching up to 62 x 190 x 55 cm. It weighs 100 kilograms on its own (with all hardware), but can handle loads of up to 300 kilograms, thanks to the combination of a nondescript electric motor in the rear wheel hub and an on-board battery. Details about the specification itself remain unknown, but we know that the maximum speed of this project is 25 km / h, and it can travel up to 50 km on a single charge.
