A man tried to smuggle 160 CPUs and 16 flip phones through customs

A man of nationality China tried to smuggle some 160 CPUS and 16 phones folding by the customs of Gongbei (Zuhai). The man was caught by customs agents trying to enter the frontera between Macau and Chinese mainland through the port. He had electronic devices glued all over his body.

Not only big companies try to evade Chinese customs, but also people. The individual in question, nicknamed “CPU man“, was surprised with 160 CPUs, glued around his body. These chips included 11th and 12th generation processors, highly demanded by customers.

In addition to the CPUs, the individual was also carrying 16 flip phones. Most CPUs were Core i5-12600KF from Intel, which sell for about 330 Dollars Americans, so 160 units would be equivalent to more than $50,000 Americans. This is not the first time such a case has happened. smugglingnot the last.

The official statement from Chinese customs, they do not mess around

This was the official statement by the Office Customs from China:

“On March 9, port customs seized a passenger entry case that concealed a central processing unit (CPU). At around 1 a.m. that day, a man named Zeng entered the country through the “non-declaration channel” of the Gongbei port customs. The customs officials observed that his walking posture was abnormal and they stopped him to inspect him.

Upon further inspection, customs officers seized a total of 160 CPUs and a total of 16 mobile phones folded and taped to the inside of his calf, waist, and abdomen. For the time being, the case has continued to be processed in accordance with the relevant regulations. Customs reminds that items of luggage brought in and out of the country by individuals must be limited to their own use and to a reasonable amount, and must be subject to customs supervision. In the case of those who evade customs supervision by personal concealment or storage of items, which constitute contraband, customs will investigate legal responsibility in accordance with the law.”

Tax evaders and smugglers are severely penalized in Chinawith penalties ranging from fines to forced labor and imprisonment for up to 25 years. It all depends on the seriousness of the crime, of course. And in the case of CPU man, we can say that he got it quite cheap. Despite the fine imposed on him for smuggling the CPUSHe was able to go home, for now.

What do you think of this guy who wanted to smuggle CPUs by sticking them to his body? Smuggling genius, right?
