Until now, the French Navy had at any time a submarine hidden in the sea depths, which, in the event of an attack on the state, was to respond to the same aggressor. Times have changed, however, and now not one, but two French submarines with ballistic missiles are on active service.
The French water deterrent force currently operates four nuclear-powered Le Triomphant submarines. Each of them is 138 meters long and has 14,335 tons of displacement, and above all, it has as many as 16 M51 ICBMs in its arsenal. These can carry up to 10 fusion heads with a power of 150 kilotons, thanks to the MIRV technology.

Normally, 4 ships would allow France to keep one on mission, one under renovation, a third in preparation, and a fourth in reserve to maintain constant rotation. Recently, however, France decided to go on a mission with two ships at the same time, which gives 32 missiles ready to strike the enemy state.
Officially, however, nothing is known about this, because France still follows the principle of the minimum information when it comes to its military sector, so on the web you will find information on both two and three submarines in terms of deterrence on the mission.
