A shipment of EVGA RTX cards with thousands of dollars worth of GPUs stolen

With the times playing out, it is not surprising to learn that a shipment of EVGA GeForce RTX 3000 series cards was stolen from a truck on its way to a distribution center.

The theft, which took place on October 29, was announced by EVGA Product Manager Jacob Freeman via the company’s forums. It didn’t reveal too many details, probably because it’s an ongoing investigation, though it did confirm that the truck was headed from San Francisco to EVGA’s Southern California distribution center at the time.

Freeman commented that the values of the stolen cards start at $ 329.99, probably the RTX 3060, and go up to $ 1959.99, with an RTX 3090. These are MSRP prices, so the actual sale prices would be much higher. How many were stolen was not revealed, but it will undoubtedly have been a large number.

Would you go to jail for stealing an EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 ULTRA?

Freeman cautions that it is a criminal and civil offense to purchase or receive property that has been stolen, under section 496 (a) of the California Penal Code. It also points out that it is a criminal and civil offense to “hide, sell, retain or help conceal the sale or retention” of such property.

Anyone who buys an EVGA card on the second hand market can confirm that it has not been stolen by checking the serial number on the page of company warranty verification. EVGA will not record or accept any warranty or claim for upgrading of stolen products.

This is not the first case where RTX 3000 cards have been stolen. A large number of RTX 3090 cards with a heat rating of over $ 330,000 were stolen from an MSI factory in China last December in what is believed to have been a internal work.
