For the first time in almost two decades, we won’t see an annual release of Call of DutyAnd it is that industry sources have claimed that Activision Blizzard will delay delivery from 2023 to 2024.

The reason is none other than the last installment of the series, Call of Duty: Vanguardhas not lived up to expectations, leading some executives to believe that they are introducing new versions too quickly, enough that players lose interest due to the few improvements that are incorporated in each release, and even lead to on suspicion that had been cannibalized by the previous year’s gamein addition to influencing the great success of Call of Duty: Warzone, free access.

Although there will not be a new Call of Duty, we would have the launch of other projects that will seek to fill the gap that the delivery will leave. According to sources, there will be a new free online title.

“We have an exciting lineup of premium and free-to-play Call of Duty experiences for this year, next year, and beyond,” an Activision spokesperson wrote in an emailed statement. “We look forward to sharing more details when the time comes.”

The delay will have a massive effect on the video game industry. Since 2005, Activision has released a new installment of this shooter every fall, which usually tops the annual sales charts and has sold over 400 million copies since the series’ inception in 2003.
