Aerocool DS 200 Blanc: Review| Specs| Test| Hashrate | Price On Amazon| CPU Performance | Config | Advantage (Pros) and Disadvantages (Cons) and other important features that will help you make better decision.

Today marks the start of testing of a new brand at Conseil Config, I named Aerocool! Among the catalog from Aerocool we find fans, cooling systems for processors, rheobus and other PC peripherals (headset, keyboard, mouse) but also and above all boxes! A wide choice of cases for all types of uses and tastes, the very “gamer” look with lots of ventilation, the mini-ITX or even the sober specially designed for silence.

Specification: Hashrate – Aerocool DS200

The case that reached me is a DS 200 in white version, the DS series (Dead Silent) is intended as its name suggests silent. Offered at around 100 € it will have to face a rather fierce competition in the field (Fractal Design R5, Cooler Master Silencio 652S to name a few); let’s see what he has in his stomach!

The Aerocool DS200 case is in the medium-tower format, 2 bays of 5.25 ″ are available (with a 5.25 ″ -> 3.5 ″ adapter for a floppy drive, hard disk or card reader), 5 bays 3.5 ″ (compatible 2.5 ″ ) as well as 2 dedicated SSDs fuck. Two hard drive cages are available, both removable. The size of the beast is rather contained, with 48.5 cm in length, 52.7 cm in height and 21 cm in width, it should be possible to install a rather substantial configuration. Speaking of dimensions the Aerocool DS200 is compatible with a heatsink with a maximum height of 17 cm and a graphics card up to 29 cm with the 3.5 ″ drive cage in place and 41 cm with the latter removed.

On the ventilation side, the DS200 is also not left out with a lot of space available, as standard it comes with a 12 cm fan rotating at 800 RPM at the rear and a 14 cm fan also rotating at 800 RPM at the rear. ‘front, to which it will be possible to add a 12 or 14 cm fan at the front and 2 12 or 14 cm fans (or even 1 of 20 cm) above. The top is also a bit special as the DS200 comes with an interchangeable plate, either solid (for more silence) or a honeycomb grille fitted with a dust filter (for more performance).

Enclosure oriented silence required, Aerocool has equipped its DS200 with noise-canceling material on the side panels as well as anti-vibration rubbers for 3.5 ″ hard drives, the minimum vital!
Regarding the rest we are here in the classic, the front connector includes 2 USB 2.0 ports, 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as the eternal 3.5mm jack ports (in addition to the power and rest buttons of course). Only the 4-speed rheobus (stop, low, medium, full) as well as the LCD screen indicating the internal temperature (thanks to the probe included) in several different colors change the situation a little against some of its competitors.
Offered at a price of around 100 € the first indications tend to suggest that the DS200 is equipped for silence, now it will have to prove it in practice!

The DS200 box is very sober, we are entitled to a drawing of the facade as well as the brand and of course the model. In addition to that there is a list of all the strengths as well as a table of technical characteristics.

When opening the box we fall directly on the box in its plastic bag and sandwiched between 2 polystyrene molds. The second facade as well as the manual are embedded in one of the polystyrene molds.

Here is the beast! The first impression when seeing the DS200 is its relative sobriety, less sober than a Fractal Design R5 or a Cooler Master Silencio 652S but the mixture of black and white is rather successful. The entire front and top are made of plastic, but a very good quality “soft touch” plastic which is very pleasant to the eye or to the touch.

The front facade is rather stripped down, we find the 2 5.25 ″ slots as well as the logo of the brand at the bottom which remains very discreet. On the sides we can see ventilation holes allowing to bring fresh air to the box via the installed fan.
In addition to the 5.25 ″ caches Aerocool has thought of those who use a floppy / card reader as well as a DVD / Blu-ray reader / writer by adding appropriate caches:

Thanks to these 2 covers the facade will not be denatured.

Once the front has been removed, you have access to the dust filter located in front of the fans as well as to the 5.25 ″ bays. The fan installed is a 14 cm from Aerocool rotating at a maximum speed of 800 RPM for a maximum consumption of 1.44W.

On the sides there is not much to report, the whole is very sober and the panels are fixed with hand screws.

On the inside of the panels there is a layer of anti-noise / vibration material like what is done with competitors:

This material ensures a consistent stitch and very good rigidity of the panels.

Above, sobriety is still present, vents are present on the sides like the facade. A large white cover is present and interchangeable via the black press located on the left in the photo, let’s see what it looks like once it has been removed:

We discover the locations for the fans, 2 x 12 cm, 2 x 14 cm or a huge 20 cm. Note that the space between the ventilation holes is large enough to place a water-cooling radiator.

The second honeycomb-style grid cover fits very well here without altering the overall appearance of the case, plus the dust filter will help keep dust out. It goes without saying that installing this grille will make the box less silent, but will offer the possibility of a more important air flow.

The classic power buttons, rest, 3.5mm jack ports as well as 2 USB 2.0 ports and 2 USB 3.0 ports. In the center there is a backlit LCD screen (7 colors) displaying the temperature of the integrated probe, around the screen 4 buttons are available to increase or decrease the speed of rotation of the fans, to change the color of the lighting as well as changing the temperature display (degrees centigrade or Fahrenheit).

Below we see that everything is done so that the DS 200 does not lack air, the chassis is raised leaving room for vents in the front and in the middle. There are also 4 rubber pads that will prevent vibrations from being transmitted to the support on which the case is placed.

The bottom dust filter is placed in front of the ventilation for the power supply.

At the rear nothing out of the ordinary, openwork brackets, 2 holes for water cooling tubes as well as access to the power supply dust filter.

Here is the interior of the beast! The layout is like all modern boxes, cable glands, a hole in the panel to access the back of the motherboard as well as the two removable hard drive cages.

The cable glands are made of flexible rubber and are very easy to handle, they will not interfere during installation.

The upper grid for being used for the installation of additional ventilators, everything breathes here and we can see the hole on the left which will be used to pass the pipes and the processor waterblock in the case of the installation of a watercooling system.

The rear fan is a 12 cm Aerocool rotating at a speed of 800 RPM maximum for a consumption of 1.44W maximum. Note that the latter does not have black cables or braided cable which I am sure will not appeal to fans of homogeneous colors.

The internal connections are all black, there are the connectors for the buttons on the front as well as the various LEDs, a USB 3.0 OR USB2.0 connector as well as a USB 2.0 connector and audio sockets on the front.

The connection of the rheobus is a little more complicated, 1 molex connector for the power supply, 3 molex connectors for the fans and 3 4-pin connectors, nothing prevents you from connecting fans to the molex and 4-pin sockets as long as the everything does not exceed 30 Watts (25 Watts recommended). A temperature sensor is also present and that we can place wherever we want in the box.

At the rear nothing transcendent, we can see the cable glands and the hole behind the motherboard.

The space available between the back plate of the motherboard and the side panel is rather narrow, it will be necessary to be careful during the assembly to lay out all the cables under penalty of having problems to close it all.

The configuration used during the tests is as follows:

A rather bulky configuration therefore due to its huge cooler and the 3 slots taken by the graphics card. The Aerocool DS 200 will be tested once with the fans in “Low” and once in “High” with only the SSD connected. Another test will take place in “Low” with the Raptor hard drive connected, it being literally hell in terms of its vibrations, which will allow the effectiveness of the silentblocs to be seen.

The assembly of the beast went pretty well, everything fits perfectly and nothing sticks out, no sharp corners or anything on the horizon. The materials are quite solid.
On the other hand there were 3 small problems, the fan located above the memory of the NH-D15 could not be installed because it then touched the side panel, the space at the back of the motherboard is very fair and you have to force to fit the panel, even doing the maximum not to have crossed cables and a friction noise was heard at the fan on the front, in fact the dust filter is a little warped and since it is very close to the fan the 2 touch each other, once the filter is inverted there were no more problems.

In order to test the box, I will carry out an OCCT Power Supply test for 30mins and then take the temperatures of the main components such as the processor (average of the 4 cores), the motherboard, the graphics card as well as the hard drive.
Regarding noise pollution, I will proceed as in the file on silent PCs namely 1 statement in front, right, left, rear and above.

The Aerocool DS 200 will face the case used for the silent pc backrest, the Corsair Carbide 300R modified for the needs of the same backrest as well as the Antec P380, be quiet! Silent base 800, Antec P100, Cooler Master Silencio 652S as well as the Fractal Design Define R5. The choice of boxes is not random, all these boxes are rather silent so the Aerocool DS 200 will have a lot to do!

Repos

The temperatures at rest are average for silent-oriented boxes, whether in “low” or “high”. There is also not much difference between the 2 settings, the fans installed running at a maximum speed of 800 RPM this is hardly surprising. Like the Fractal Design R5 and given the temperatures observed, I would say that at rest you might as well leave the ventilation to a minimum, it will only be more pleasant for the ears.

Ambient sound level: 31dB

Speaking of ears, what about noise pollution? A silent-oriented box like our DS200 in today’s test should not be afraid of this part, and quite as much to say that it is not the last in this exercise!
In “Low” with and without the raptor, a maximum of 35 dB is observed, which is clearly in the silent category, like a Fractal Design R5 or a Silencio 652S. Speaking of the raptor, it being a hell in terms of its vibrations for all boxes, it does not increase the sound level enormously but on the other hand the vibrations are audible, while being of course very muffled.
In “High” and as the temperatures tire you imagine there is not much change, the sound level increases by only 1 dB above on the left and) right and 2 dB in front and behind, which is clearly not huge. .
On the other hand, a little word about the fans themselves which even if they are silent suffer from a small motor noise, particularly the 14cm at the front, once the ear is more than 50 cm it is not really audible.

Nothing to report here, as the vast majority of cases in the test, the fans remain at their base RPM, ie 600 RPM for the processor and 500 RPM for the graphics card.

Charge

In load, the Aerocool DS200 is once again doing as well as its silent box colleagues, except of course for those who offer fans that blow more and are therefore noisier at maximum (like the R5 and the Silencio 652S or even the be quiet! silent base 800). Once again there is not much difference between the “Low” mode and the “High” mode, again because of the maximum 800 RPM of the fans, 2 ° less on the processor and the graphics card.
To sum up, the DS200 does neither better nor worse than the others, which is already not so bad!

Ambient sound level: 31dB

Here again it is very good for the Aerocool, in “High” the load configuration did not exceed 37 dB at the rear which is really excellent! In “Low” we lose a few dB as at rest with a maximum of 34 dB always at the rear.
Compared to its competitors the DS200 clearly does not deserve, it is indeed just as quiet as a Fractal Design R5 or a Silencio 652S. One thing is certain, in load if you have not studied the whole configuration to be as quiet as possible, the DS200 will not limit you, apart from the small noise of the front fan motor.

Under load the PWM fans do not activate more than that, with 930 RPM for the processor and 700 RPM for the graphics card in “Low” for 900 RPM and 640 RPM in “High”. The air flow is therefore sufficient for the components of the test machine without the fans needing to compensate by a huge increase in speed.

Here we are at the end of this test, what about the Aerocool DS 200?
Let’s attack directly with the part that characterizes the Aerocool DSD200, silence! It is clear that even if the “Dead Silent” is not reached here the DS200 has nothing to envy to the other boxes, the fans are very quiet despite a slight noise from the nearby motor and the rest of the components are well isolated. thanks to the material used on the panels. Be careful, however, and many people make the mistake, even if the fans and the box are designed for silence, if a component (a graphics card for example, or a cooler) is noisy the box will not be able to do much about it!
The build quality is very good, the plastics used are of good quality, particularly on the outside with a “soft touch” finish, the only small problem encountered is the level of the front dust filter which was slightly curled and rubbed. on the fan and therefore emitted a rather annoying noise.

In terms of the look here again it is rather a success, being sober but mixing 2 colors, colors which can also vary from black to orange through blue, white and red depending on the model chosen. Aerocool has added to the DS200 a very practical 4-speed rheobus capable of controlling 3 fans and an LCD screen displaying the temperature surrounding the integrated probe, this can be useful even if it is very clearly a gadget.
All is not, however, all rosy, the DS200 could have benefited from a small extra centimeter at the back of the motherboard to allow easier cable storage and to be picky the fan cables could have been sheathed, or painted black, nothing too bad to sum up.

The Aerocool DS200 can be found at around 90 € per hour or I am writing these lines, it is therefore a few euros less than the Fractal Design R5 and the Cooler Master Silencio 652S which do not have the small points. negatives of the DS200, but if the look appeals to you and silence is a must then there is no reason not to take it for a silent setup.

Advantages

  • Quiet
  • Interchangeable top panel
  • Rhéobus
  • Large choice of colors

Disadvantages

  • Space at the back of the motherboard
  • Fan wires not braided / painted
  • Front dust filter which can
    touch the fan

A big thank you to Aerocool who allowed me to do this test.
