The datasheets show us that The Ryzen 9 3900X features more cores and more threads than the i9 9900K; such a situation has often been repeated with us because AMD, with its new series of processors, has reduced the cost per core of its CPUs, bringing processors with 6 or 12 cores to the market at competitive prices. The tests on 7-Zip confirm that the Ryzen 9 is superior, in general use, to the i9: even in the tests on this program the AMD solution is the best with a major advantage in performance.
Video games
Nel gaming the situation is reversed, with l’i9 9900K that turns out to be the best solution albeit not with a net advantage. Clearly this advantage becomes more or less large depending on which game is being examined, but generally the difference is between 5% and 10%.

The test data give us a very precise idea of what the two CPUs are able to offer: the Ryzen 9 3900X was always ahead in all production tests, with a clear advantage in software that uses multiple threads well and less in those that use a single thread. In gaming, the i9 manages to reverse the situation establishing itself as the best solution, but the gap that divides it from Ryzen is not so high and in a normal gaming situation both CPUs will be able to give you excellent performance, we can assure you.
Summing up, which one do we recommend between the two? Our choice can only fall on Ryzen 9 3900X: it costs less than the i9, in production tests it was always the best and in gaming it manages to keep up with its Intel counterpart. We recommend the i9 only to those of you who are only interested in gaming and always want to have maximum performance, people to whom that 5/10% less performance than the Ryzen could weigh, but this difference is only noticeable in those situations in which the CPU is not limited by the GPU.
