AMD regains share in the processor market

AMD did not present new CPUs for a long time, so it practically hit the bottom in this market. Intel had an overwhelming advantage and there was no sign that anything would change that. However, Ryzen changed the market situation.

The latest data on this subject comes from the PassMark quarterly report. It is based on thousands of data passing through the company’s software. Information about a specific share is based on the results from benchmarks – so they do not concern the number of sold processors but their actual use. The results also do not include computers running other than Windows.

As you can see for yourself, AMD saw its first major growth in a long time. Currently, it has 31% (the most in 10 years) and Intel has 69%. In the fourth quarter of 2016, Intel had 81.9% and AMD 18.1%. So the difference is huge, AMD definitely comes back to the game. What’s more, it turns out that Ryzen may be the most successful processors in the company’s history. The new cpu’s are efficient and can easily compete with Intel products. Only the consumer benefits from this.
