AMD’s XMP 3.0 alternative to DDR5 is called RAMP (Ryzen Accelerated Memory Profile)

In its latest update, HWiNFO added support for AMD RAMP technology, leading many to wonder what it was all about, as AMD has not announced any technology by that name until now. After that, ComputerBase decided to consult the company, who confirmed that it is their alternative to XMP 3.0 called Ryzen Accelerated Memory Profile.

In this way, RAMP technology will allow us to load memory profiles with frequencies above JEDEC values on the AM5 platform, which will be the first AMD desktop platform to support DDR5 memory. It will be interesting to see if AMD adds similar features to XMP 3.0 such as the ability for brands to add up to three profiles instead of two as in DDR4, and the ability for users to save their own custom profiles on modules, although not yet. there are too many more details about this technology to know.

The AM5 platform will arrive later this year, and will be the first to support DDR5 and PCI-E 5.0. It will also use an LGA-1718 socket, bringing the pins to the motherboard instead of having them on the processor as in AM4. We may know more about this platform in May during Computex, so we may know more about this new AMD RAMP technology there.

What features would you like AMD RAMP to have?
