The plastic house took on a new meaning. ByFusion processes the plastic into a building material

There is a ByFusion facility somewhere in Los Angeles that can process up to 450 tons of plastic per year. The company itself intends to process the entire 100 million tons of plastic into building material by 2030, in order not only to protect the environment, but also to offer an interesting construction alternative, thanks to which the “plastic house” will take on a new meaning.

ByFusion wants to convert plastic into ByBlocks building blocks.

The fight against plastic, in which we have begun to sink, as a species, has been going on for a long time and is taking more and more extensive action. Both at the first stage (production), the next (consumption) and the last (recycling). The problem is that not all plastics that are part of our lives can be recycled and that is why ByFusion has decided to take this issue at stake and combine all types of plastic into one big building block called ByBlocks.

To make these sustainable building blocks, ByFusion uses its secret ingredient “Blockers”, which the company calls a product that can be used in construction to build almost anything. Thanks to it, it can create blocks similar to the cement ones with dimensions of 40 x 20 x 20 cm with the use of even contaminated and unsorted plastic.

ByBlocks come in three versions – completely flat, with interlocking pins and a synergy of both approaches. According to the information, they work just as well as cement blocks, but are susceptible to sunlight. However, this is an easy problem to work around – just cover them with a colorless, special paint and thus provide yourself with “bricks” resembling works of abstract art.
