Another scandal with AirTags. Apple provided great spying equipment and now it needs to protect victims

How to deal with a self-created problem? Apple knows this very well, as a year ago it launched its AirTags for locating its private belongings and announced that it is easy to detect any dropped AirTags, if you have your own. In other words – a circus, but the sale of this gadget continues, although the next scandal with AirTags forced the company to react and make further changes. Fortunately, these are changes for the better.

Apple brings the fight against dropped AirTags to a new level

Famous model Brooks Nader announced earlier this year that someone had put an AirTag in her coat, and now Apple has decided to respond by announcing in the latest update that it will take additional steps to prevent such incidents. To that end, the company will update the device to add a new alert that any user will see when they set up their AirTag for the first time.

The notification will remind you that tracking someone without their consent is a crime in many places and that the police may request information from Apple if they misuse the device. The cooperation between law enforcement agencies and companies has already ended more than once with the successful diagnosis of the persecutor. Apple has also made efforts to update the information on its own website, providing links to organizations such as the National Center for Victims of Crime to help those who believe their safety may be at risk.

However, this is not the end of the changes, Apple will update its equipment (AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, AirPods 3rd gen), as well as third-party devices, so that iOS systems now display an AirTag warning. We also know that this year the company will enrich the iPhone 11, 12 and 13 with a precise find function, which will allow people who have these devices to find their way to an unknown AirTag.
