Assassin’s Creed Odyssey does not run on older processors

You know how it is. When improving your PC, we usually consider replacing the graphics card and maybe adding a few LED strips, forgetting about the worn out processor at the same time. This one “ages” longer than graphic accelerators, but it may prove to be an insurmountable obstacle for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

As you probably know, this is the latest Ubisoft game, which debuted several dozen hours ago. Based on numerous reviews and opinions, we can safely say that this installment of the “about assassins” series will aspire to be the best RPG game of 2018 … which is confirmed by the sales results. However, a large group of players can already prepare torches and tridents in front of the company’s headquarters, because it turned out that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey does not run on older processors. Fortunately, this is not a limitation on the part of the manufacturer, but the CPU’s computing ability itself.

It turned out that the game simply won’t start if the CPU doesn’t support the AVX (Advanced Vector Extension) instruction list. This one is not a novelty, because it is already supported by second-generation Intel Core and AMD Bulldozer processors. We are talking, for example, about the i7-960, FX-8320, and even quite fresh Pentiums (G4560 or G2030). However, fixes in upcoming updates may be your salvation. With their help, the developers of other games were also able to allow the owners of such old systems to their productions.
