ASUS reveals the first AM5 motherboards with X670 and X670E chipsets for the Ryzen 7000 Zen4

After AMD introduced socket AM5 and X670E, X670, and B650 chipsets during Computex 2022, companies started showing off their socket-based motherboards, and now it’s ASUS’ turn.

The new line of motherboards is called AM5^5 and there will be five new motherboards for AMD Ryzen 7000 processors with Zen4 architecture, which arrive with the new socket AM5. The ASUS slogan for the new motherboards is: “rise to the fifth power”referring to the AM5 standard, where they have five different motherboard options with two chipsets: the X670E, X670. ASUS motherboards are: ROG Crosshair, ROG Strix, ProArt, ASUS Prime, ASUS TUF Gaming.

During the presentation, ASUS revealed in more detail the specifications of the high-end ROG Crosshair X670E motherboard.

ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme

ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme features two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, four PCIe 5.0 x4 slots, three PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots, USB4 and USB 3.2 Gen connection. In addition, the front panel of the motherboard has two connections for USB 3.2 Gen 2 with Quick Charge 4+ support. The board also offers six SATA 6 Gbs ports to expand storage capacity.

The design of the ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme It features black tones with an AniMe Matrix display with LEDs that can display custom retro-style animations. Additionally, the board features AURA RGB, plus two customizable ones that can be synced via Aura Sync, for those seeking ultimate performance and style.

Heat sinks on all motherboards and VRM (Voltage Regulator Module) ensure improved system cooling. ASUS also reports that the ProCool II connectors offer better contact with power supplies (PSUs). Premium capacitors and MicroFine alloy voice coils ensure the best transition of power to the processor, even under high workloads.

Finally, the ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme will feature the new PCIe Q-Release technology, which allows the graphics card to be removed from the slot with the push of a button. This will make it easier to customize the PCIe slots and make them easier to remove, eliminating the need to keep poking your fingers into the board and struggling to free up the PCIe slot.

We don’t have much data on the rest of the motherboards, but surely we’ll be seeing more of this soon.
