The Cooler Master Silencio 652S does not lack strengths when seeing the technical characteristics! With its 3 5.25 slots, a plethora of 3.5 ″ / 2.5 ″ slots all over the case (1 cage for the 3.5 ″, 1 cage for the 2.5 ″ with 7 slots each plus the various 2.5 ″ at the back, 3.5 ″ at the bottom, 3.5 ″ adapter in a 5.25 ″ bay etc.) it goes without saying that it will be able to accommodate a real storage server if the need arises.

In terms of ventilation, there is also the avalanche, 2 x 12/14 cm at the front, 2 x 12/14 cm see an 18/20 cm on the top, 1 x 18/20 cm on the panel side (itself equipped with a cover to avoid noise / dust), 1 x 12/18 cm at the bottom next to the power supply, 1 x 12 cm behind the hard drive cage as well as the eternal 12 cm in back. Suffice to say that ventilation level, it can accommodate heavy! Originally it comes with 3 x FP120 fans (therefore 12 cm) rotating at a maximum speed of 1200 RPM which should already be sufficient for a large configuration.

The front connection is not left out with 2 x USB 3.0, 2 x USB 2.0 as well as the eternal 3.5mm jack and a little extra, an SD card reader!

Regarding the graphics card, it will be possible to install one 36 cm long (or 43.2 cm without the 2.5 ″ cage) so no worries to do at this level, the CPU cooler can reach a height of 16.8 cm which leaves a good margin for the larger models.

Dust filters everywhere, removable covers on the side panel and above, removable disc cages, possibility of installing large water-cooling radiators, Cooler Master does its best to have a very versatile case!
The dimensions are rather generous, as is its weight of 10.4 kg, proposed at around 100 € it has a lot of arguments on paper, we will have to see what this gives in practice so without further delay it is time to do it. go to the mill!

The box is rather sober, on the front side we find a photo of the Silencio 652S in profile, the logo of the brand, the model, a small sticker saying that the case is in the medium tower format as well as the mention of 3 fans “ultra silent ”, the possibility of installing 2 radiators of 240 mm as well as the side panels fitted with anti-noise materials.
On the back are photos of the case showing the main features as well as a small listing of the main strengths, in 8 different languages!

The full technical characteristics are also present on one side of the case, so the Silencio 652S will no longer hold any secrets for you!

When opening, we find the case in its plastic bag sandwiched between 2 polystyrene molds, classic but effective!

Here is the beast! All black and very sober, we are entitled to plastic on the front and on the top, as well as for the cover on the side panel. Let’s take a closer look 😀

The facade could not be more sober, a large black plastic door, only the Coolr Master logo visible at the bottom which does not distort the whole.
Once the door is open you can see the mesh dust filters, each 5.25 ″ slot acts as a filter in addition to the large filter in front of the fans. The door is completely covered with sound-absorbing foam. A word however concerning the quality of the whole, in fact the hinges as well as the door itself and the dust filter in front of the fans are not very rigid and seem rather fragile, lumberjacks be careful!

The foam is applied very well and covers the entire door, fans of silence will be delighted!

The eternal Power and Reset buttons as well as the activity LED.

Behind the dust filter we find the 2 FP120, models running at 1200RPM maximum, I remind you.

The dust filter is made of mesh, so large enough holes that will allow air to pass but dust may also infiltrate.

Above once again the sobriety is apart from the small shiny border, Cooler Master has on the other hand put the package on the modularity, it will indeed be possible to remove the plastic cover in order to let the air pass if fans / radiator are installed inside, like this:

Once the cover is removed we fall on the removable dust filter.

Once removed you can clearly see the fixing holes for fans of different sizes.

The filter (always in mesh) which slides through the back of the case, so you will need enough space at the back of the tower to remove it during cleaning.

The connection on the top is very complete as I said above, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports as well as 3.5mm jacks and an SD card reader.

Below are 4 large plastic feet equipped with rubber pads so as not to transmit vibrations to the surface on which the box is placed. 2 filters are also present, one for the power supply and one for the optional fan that can be installed behind it.

on the side once again sobriety is the order of the day, we can see the front ventilation grille and more particularly the removable cover which will be used to give fresh air directly to the graphics card if the need arises.

The cover is made of plastic and fixed with 2 screws.

inside it is clear that Cooler Master has done its best to reduce vibrations and noise thanks to a layer of hard noise-canceling materials which makes the side panels very heavy and very rigid. The material used looks like the one used in the Antec P280.

At the rear nothing very transcendent except the presence of a vertical bracket, practical for installing a rheobus or any other material. Watercooling has of course not been set aside with 3 holes for passing pipes.

Here is the interior of the beast! All black and very sober once again, let’s take a closer look.

The power supply will rest on 4 rubber feet in order to attenuate vibrations, silent case obliges!

The bottom cage is dedicated to 3.5 ″ hard drives, 3 bays to be precise and therefore 3 individual baskets.

Above the 2.5 ″ disc cage, 4 slots available, the particularity of this cage is that it is modular and it will be possible to expand it to accommodate 3.5 ″ discs.

The baskets are 3.5 ″ or 2.5 ″ compatible, you just have to stretch / close them, it’s quite ingenious!

The 3 5.25 ″ bays benefit from a tool-free installation, a classic nowadays.

Above we can see that the cover fulfills its role perfectly, the choice of ventilation here is large, 12cm, 14cm or even 18cm, there will be something for everyone!

The cable glands are fitted with a very flexible rubber.

Above the motherboard there will also be plenty of room to run the cables, in addition to the eternal opening for the 8-pin CPU.

A quick note on the fan connections, in fact in addition to the 3-pin cable there is a 3-pin -> Molex adapter which will be very practical if the motherboard used lacks 3-pin connectors or if you are not using no rheobus.

At the back there is not much to say, everything is very clean, to point out the presence of a place to install an SSD, in case the 7 baskets are not sufficient 😀

A small precision, however, concerning the space allocated to the storage of the cables, although the space is sufficient it is not the abundance and it will be necessary to be careful not to make knots or large blocks otherwise you will not be able to put the panel in place, 1 cm more please gentlemen from Cooler Master 🙂

The configuration used during the tests is as follows:

A rather large configuration therefore due to its huge cooler and the 3 slots taken by the graphics card. The Cooler Master Silencio 652S will be tested once with 5V fans and once in 12V with only the SSD connected. Another test will take place at 5V with the Raptor hard drive connected, it being literally hell in terms of its vibrations, which will allow us to see the effectiveness of the silentblocs.

The assembly of the test configuration went rather well, however, we must be careful to install the spacers before installing the motherboard otherwise the equipment will burn out, which is not really the goal!

Once the spacers have been placed, the assembly takes place like in any other case, so I’ll skip the details!

And here is the mounted beast! It’s time to torture it all now 🙂

In order to test the box, I will carry out an OCCT Power Supply test for 30mins and then take the temperatures of the main components such as the processor (average of the 4 cores), the motherboard, the graphics card as well as the hard drive.
Regarding noise pollution, I will proceed as in the file on silent PCs namely 1 statement in front, right, left, rear and above. All these tests will be done with the 6 fans set to 5V and 12V.

The Cooler Master Silencio 652S will face the case used for the silent pc backrest, the Corsair Carbide 300R in the original version and modified for the needs of the same backrest as well as the Antec P100, be quiet! Silent base 800 as well as the Fractal Design Core 3300. The choice of boxes is not random, all these boxes are rather silent so the Silencio 652S will have a lot to do!

Repos

At rest, the temperatures of the components in the Cooler Master Silencio 652S are very good, in fact in 5V we arrive at 35 ° for the processor, 30 ° for the graphics card and 34 ° for the motherboard, the raptor meanwhile stabilizes at 36 °. We note that the temperature does not move very much once the fans are fully charged, in fact we only gain 2 ° on the processor and 1 ° on the graphics card and the motherboard. Compared to the other boxes in the comparison, the Silencio 652S behaves very well, the Fractal Design 3300 having a lot of openings it is normal to have better results, the be quiet! Silent Base 800 having fans rotating very slowly at 5V (400 and 500 RPM) the results are very logically less good.

Ambient sound level: 31dB

In terms of noise pollution, it’s all good, in fact in 5V the fans are very quiet and the silencio 652S reaches the level of be quiet! Silent Base 800, which is no small feat! Adding a Western Digital Raptor (which is hell for boxes because of its vibrations) only marginally increases the dB but the vibrations are still felt in the ear.
Once the fans are pushed to the maximum the general sound level increases very little, except at the rear which is normal, the Cooler Master Silencio 652S therefore does a very good job of soundproofing.
Note that the Corsair 300R modified by me remains untouchable (do not hesitate to take a look here to see the full article).

Nothing to report here, as the vast majority of cases in the test, the fans remain at their base RPM, ie 600 RPM for the processor and 500 RPM for the graphics card.

Charge

The temperatures under load are once again very good whether with 5V or 12V fans. In 5V we arrive at 68 ° for the processor, 71 ° for the graphics card and 45 ° for the motherboard, some will say that the temperatures are a little high but there is absolutely nothing to fear for the lifespan of the components, temperatures are quite normal. Once pushed to the maximum the fans do a good job and we gain a few degrees on the components, 5 ° less on the processor to reach 63 °, 6 ° less on the graphics card which falls to 65 ° and 5 ° for the motherboard which arrives at 40 °, as much to say that the air flow in the Silencio 652S is well studied.

Ambient sound level: 31dB

Here again the Coole Master Silencio 652S is very good, with a maximum of 39 dB at the rear under load with the fans at a minimum, it goes without saying that it will largely be forgotten! Only be quiet! Silent Base 800 (in 5V) and the Corsair 300R modified by me manage to do better!
In 12V the sound level hardly rises, barely a small dB in front, on the left and behind so we can let the fans run fully without problems.

Under load the PWM fans do not activate more than that, with 960 RPM for the processor and 640 RPM for the graphics card. The air flow is therefore sufficient for the components of the test machine without the fans needing to compensate with a huge increase in speed.

Here we are at the end of this test, what about the Cooler Master Silencio 652S?
First of all, let’s talk directly about the main purpose of this box, silence, and the bet has been successful because it has proven to be very good in the field, the covers on all the ventilation locations as well as the soundproofing materials on the panels. and silent fans are no stranger to it! The fans themselves (FP120s) performed very well and there is very little noise difference between 5V and 12V.

Modularity is also a strong point of the Silencio 652S, covers (above and on the side panel) to improve airflow and modular and removable hard drive / SSD cages to make room for water cooling radiators.
The build quality is very good, the only small weak points of the front panel with a plastic (door and hinges mainly) too flexible which does not make you want to open and close it all too often and vibrations of the discs harsh ones that can be heard when installing a disbeliever like the Raptor. The space on the back of the motherboard could be extended a small centimeter to allow easier cable storage.

Offered at a price of around 100 € it goes without saying that the Cooler Master 652S has a lot of arguments for it, it will be like the be quiet! Silent Base 800 an excellent starting point for a silent setup without having to get your hands dirty, as long as the chosen components are quiet!

Advantages

  • Good performance
  • Quiet fans
  • Modularity / Features
  • Price
  • On

Disadvantages

  • Plastics on the front facade a little “cheap”
    • Very slight vibrations of hard drives

A big thank you to Vincent from Cooler Master who allowed me to do this test.
