Core i5 mobile processors more efficient than Core i7? There are many indications of this

It seems that in the world of technology, blindly following numbers and hierarchy is not the way to choose the best equipment for you. The latest NotebookCheck comparison points to this directly, suggesting that the Core i5 mobile processors are more powerful than the Core i7.

Laptops are a slushy subject and mobile Core i5 processors emphasize this

In the case of the latest mobile chips from the 12th generation Alder Lake-P series, it turned out that the Core i7 processors are inferior to the i5 counterparts in terms of performance. Of course, not all of them, but the specific ones, and it should be noted and emphasized here (as is the case with laptops) that the results are for the Alder Lake P Core i5-1240P processor in the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro 14 laptop.

The differences come down to the fact that officially Intel only gives the maximum power of the TDP. This means that even between two identical processors in different laptops with different cooling capabilities, there can be huge differences in performance. All because of the differences in the base and boost clocks.

However, the matter may go even further. The Core i5-1240P in the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro 14 is a great example of this. This is confirmed by the comparison in the mentioned NotebookCheck, according to which it is the most powerful Alder Lake-P chip, ahead of the Core i7-1260P and Core i7-1270P.
