Blizzard continues to give bad news, and it is that after the scandals with the complaints of sexual harassment and discrimination, the cancellation of BlizzCon came, and now the announcement that Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 have been delayed. As expected, it was indicated that this time will be used to finish polishing the games. Following the announcement, the company’s shares have started to experience a 2 percent drop.

Updating of our project portfolio

As we’ve worked with new leaders at Blizzard and the franchises themselves, especially in certain key creative roles, it has become apparent that some of the Blizzard content planned for next year will benefit from more development time to reach its full potential.

While we continue to plan to deliver a substantial amount of Blizzard content next year, we are now planning a later release than initially planned for Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV.

These are two of the most anticipated titles in the industry, and our teams have made great strides toward completion in recent quarters. But we believe that giving teams some extra time to complete production, and continuing to increase their creative resources to support titles after launch, will ensure that these releases delight and captivate their communities for many years to come.

These decisions will delay the revenue increase we expected to see next year. But we are convinced that this is the right way to go for our people, our players and the long-term success of our franchises.
