Nvidia Promotional Plans for RTX 4000 and Negative Impact

Gigabyte Nvidia CMP 30HX on sale confirmed the worst fears!

The Nvidia GPU for mining has reduced performance.

The new Nvidia mining graphics card, the Nvidia CMP 30HX, is back online – this time in Romania – and prices confirm that there will be little interest from miners in this new card.

VideoCardz notes that this is the same Gigabyte CMP 30HX that we saw online not so long ago, but different from the one in Microcenter – the online store of the United Arab Emirates – a few weeks ago, after which the page was removed.

The Gigabyte CMP 30HX was spotted online by Twitter user, @momomo_us, for sale on ITDirect, currently selling for 2975 lei, which is about 720$ (54000r + VAT). At a claimed 26 Mh/s hash rate, it’s comparable to the RTX 3060 as long as the hash limiter is enabled on the graphics card.

Miners have already found several workarounds to remove this restriction, so the suggested retail price of $329 (25000r + VAT), which has increased 2-3 times in retail, will still allow miners to earn more by buying an RTX 3060 even for ridiculous money.

There are also several older graphics cards that can push hashrates of 26MH/s and higher, including the Radeon RX 5500 XT, Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti, and Radeon RX 580. All of these cards are available online for less than the CMP 30HX and, as a rule, they are more accessible. Even with the price of graphics cards skyrocketing due to the surge in demand in the face of rising cryptocurrencies and the scarcity of these same cards, they still make better economic sense than the CMP 30HX.

WILL NVIDIA VIDEO CARDS BECOMING SUSTAINABLE?

Nvidia announced new GPUs for mining a few months ago in response to a critical inventory shortage that gamers are facing while trying to get their hands on new Nvidia Ampere graphics cards like the RTX 3080 and RTX 3070.

And while resellers with their army of bots buying up stocks of video cards are the main problem, there is a lot in common between repurchases and cryptominers, since the latter buy video cards at a ridiculous price, which provokes the work of the former. The demand for cryptocurrency is growing rapidly due to the boom of Ethereum and Bitcoin, where the fault of the former ends and the fault of the others begins is not obvious.

What is clear, however, is that unless the price of Nvidia mining GPUs drops significantly, it seems unlikely that the new mining GPUs will become an alternative to the classic cards and solve the RTX GPU stock issue.
