Honda’s second-generation automatic utility vehicle is in operation

After CES 2018, Honda was developing its interesting automatic AWV, i.e. a special automated (the company describes it as an autonomous) vehicle in the form of an off-road rover, which is to help in the work, among others. on construction sites, in agriculture, or even in search and rescue operations. Today we learned that this second-generation Honda automatic commercial vehicle has started work in New Mexico.

In the second generation AWV, the raw look has been changed into something like a “cute, modest tipper” or a small truck. Honda’s second-generation automatic commercial vehicle features a pickup truck-style bed with sides and rear that fold down to facilitate the loading and unloading process. At maximum load, a six-hour charging of the built-in batteries provides a range of up to 45 km and although the speeds remain unknown, looking at the above material, they are not high.

The automation of the second-generation Honda Automatic Commercial Vehicle is based on a series of sensors. I am talking about GPS, LiDAR, radar or optical 3D cameras, which, together with the appropriate software, make this vehicle able to drive independently on a given terrain. There is also a remote control mode involved.
