Intel Announces New Solutions for 5G Networks

Intel is looking to enrich the lives of all people on earth through technology and this time it presents advances in its portfolio of products for infrastructure and transformation of 5G networks, artificial intelligence, Edge and the use of the cloud in what they call “cloudification of everything” to drive industrial growth and development in areas such as security, analytics, AI, networking and HPC.

It is also expected that by 2024 a percentage greater than 80% of core network deployments will be virtualized virtualized.

Product portfolio for 5G infrastructure

For this, improvements have been made to products already known as the second generation scalable Intel Xeon processors and the launch of new products such as the Intel Atom P5900, eASIC Diamond Mesa and Intel Ethernet 700 adapter series, which is expected for the second quarter of this year.

Intel Xeon Scalable 2nd Gen: The only processor with embedded AI will have an overall performance improvement of 36% and 58% in virtualization of network functions compared to the first generation of Intel Xeon scalable processors in addition to performance in terms of artificial intelligence is 6 times greater thanks to Intel Deep Learning Boost.

Intel Atom P5900: This efficient 10nm processor promises to bring artificial intelligence to a wireless base station by ensuring ultra-low latency with network acceleration-based hardware and 5.6x superior security packet performance using Intel QuickAssist technology.

The Atom P5900 has an 800 series ethernet adapter in charge of performing cryptographic acceleration online.

Intel eASIC Diamond Mesa: Intel’s structured 5G ASIC will have lower power consumption and up to two times higher performance than the previous generation and will be useful in cloud storage and radio access network tasks.

Intel Ethernet 700 series: With hardware enhancements to the Precision Time Protocol (PTP), this adapter is optimized for 5G needs and will be an external GPS access for cross-network service synchronization

It will start production in the second quarter of 2020 and will help in areas such as video streaming, industrial control, radio access networks and financial trading.

From the cloud to the edge of the network

Intel plans to deploy the full potential of cloud on the Edge, ensuring it will drive people and things to great improvements in retail, network, industry, and smart cities through the development of better bandwidths, less latency, and increased in security by laying the foundation for the Edge, making it easier to design, develop, and deploy workloads.
