Intel Arc, a third GPU pops up: ACM-G12 toggle between ACM-G10 and G11

Intel Arc, a third GPU pops up: ACM-G12 toggle between ACM-G10 and G11

Last week, on the sidelines of the announcement of the first GPU Arc for the mobile world, Intel also released the specifications of two GPUs which we will also review in the first desktop video cards coming in the second quarter: ACM-G10 and ACM-G11. We had immediately pointed out the evident gap in terms of Xe-Core between the two chips, with 32 of the G10 variant and only 8 of the G11 variant, assuming the existence of a third solution. Not to brag, but we were right.

A patch published on GitHub for Intel’s open source compiler explicitly mentions ACM-G12another solution also called DG2-256. Considering that ACM-G10 also known as DG2-512 and ACM-G11 as DG2-128, it is clear that ACM-G12 has 16 Xe-Core, ovvero 256 Execution Unit (or Xe Vector Engine as per Intel’s new definition).

At the moment it is not clear if this third variant of the Alchemist project will arrive only on desktop video cards, or maybe only on those workstations (scheduled for the third quarter) or both. An expansion of the mobile range in the future cannot be ruled out.

Intel Arc Limited Edition: A taste of the desktop video card that challenges GeForce and Radeon

At the moment on ACM-G12 there are no certain details, but based on the specifications of the other two chips we can assume 8 MB of L2 cache (between 16 MB of G10 and 4 MB of G11) and a memory bus at 128 or 192 bit, as G10 has a 256 bit bus and G11 goes up to 96 bit. Like the other G12 chips it is expected to be manufactured at 6 nanometers by TSMC, but the size and number of transistors are not clear at the moment.
