Intel Arc A370M on par with the mobile GeForce RTX 3050 in early benchmarks

PCWorld performed the first official benchmarks of a GPU Intel Arc A370M installed on a notebook MSI Summit E16 Flip Evo. The results turned out to be rather unexpected as the card was able to compete with the GeForce RTX 3050 mobilesometimes achieving even better performance.

Intel’s proposal is one of the entry-level solutions of the Arc 3 range together with the A350M. The graphics chip is equipped with 8 Xe processing units e 4 GB GDDR6 dedicated video memory. With a bus pari a 64 bitthe GPU is designed to work in a power range between 35 and 50 W depending on the configuration.

At first, the common opinion was that Intel’s new dedicated GPUs were on the same level as the previous generation from Nvidia and AMD. In fact, the benchmarks have shown that, at least in the case of the A370M, the cards can compete smoothly with the latest generations of the two main competitors.

Specifically, the MSI system was compared with a ASUS VivoBook Pro 15 OLED it’s a HP Spectre x360, both equipped with a mobile Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050. The performances have proved to be appreciable not only in the gaming field, but also in productivity. The tested games are Shadow of the Tomb Raider e Metro Exodus Enhanced Editionboth with a resolution Full HD.

In the first case, Intel Arc A370M even managed to outdo the RTX 3050 by scoring one media fps at 59, against the 50 registered by the competitor. In the second, however, NVIDIA has proved more solid obtaining an average of 22 fps against the 19 scored by the Intel counterpart. This, however, should be the son of a better management of Ray Tracing by NVIDIA: very interesting, in fact, are the results obtained in productivity, where Intel’s proposal overthrows the NVIIDIA one without particular difficulty.

In 3D Mark Time Spy MSI’s notebook scored a result of 4405 points where the HP Specter x360 stops at just 3772 points, while the solution from ASUS, albeit more performing, still remains slightly lower than the laptop with Intel Arc with 4396 points. Even more clear result with Topaz Video Enhanced AIwhere the Arc A370M managed to render a movie in just 134 seconds compared to the RTX 3050 which scored a time of 187 seconds53 seconds higher.

It will therefore be interesting to observe the support that Intel will offer to its dedicated GPUs and understand how much room for improvement is possible. Unfortunately, as we have reported in the past few hours, the times for the arrival of Intel GPUs on the European market, both in the mobile and desktop environment, seem to have expanded compared to expectations.
