Intel Arc A770 appears on Geekbench: disappointing score, but it’s too early to draw conclusions

Su Geekbench a first benchmark appeared of a future Intel desktop video card. The GPU in question identified with the name of Intel Arc A770 and flanked by a processor Intel Core i5-9600K. The results seem to deviate from what were expectations, placing Intel’s solution in the mid-range of the market, even if the test is not suitable for drawing conclusions.

At the moment it is not clear if this model represents the top of the range of the series (the rumors spoke of an A780 solution at the top) or if it is theLimited Editionanticipated by Intel in the past few weeks. Which is certain that the A770 that appeared in this test scored a 85.585 in the testOpenCLa decidedly low score compared to current flagship solutions from AMD and NVIDIA.

TheGeForce RTX 3070for example, almost scores50,000 points morewhile the Radeon RX 6700 XTtotals approx 16,000 points more. However, it should be considered that it is almost certainly still a prototype and not the version that will be officially brought to the shelves. Furthermore, the status of the drivers is not known, so we could hypothesize the absence of a series of optimizations that would inevitably limit their potential.

The configuration used for the test, which sees a CPU in the center, is also very curious Intel Core i5-9600K, a chip released in late 2018 with 6 cores and 6 threads. It seems to be a very used model for internal testing by Intel technicians.

In any case, the test seems to confirm some of the specifications that until now had only been rumored. Geekbench reports12.7 GB of video memory allocatedwhich makes the actual presence of 16 GB of GDDR6 memory. At the same time there is talk of32 Xe-Core with a chip frequency of 2400 MHz, therefore 150-200 MHz more than what was rumored in recent weeks. In short, we should be faced with the complete implementation of the chip ACM-G10the same used by mid-range and high-end mobile solutions Arc 5 e Arc 7.

In summary, it is not clear if this is the flagship model or if Intel’s plans are still planning the much-rumored Arc A780 which, again based on rumors, would aspire to offer gaming performance similar to NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3070/3070 Ti.
