Is NVIDIA already working on the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti? Here’s what features it might have

In recent days we have seen together the rumors according to which the GeForce RTX 4070 will be able to achieve a similar score to the GeForce RTX 3090 in 3DMark TimeSpy Extreme.

The card promises to be very powerful, but among fans there is some discontent over the technical specifications – for now to be considered only presumed – of this card: in fact, we are talking about 7168 CUDA core and 10GB of GDD6 memory at 18 Gbps on a 160-bit bus. The memory configuration, in particular, is not entirely convincing due to the bandwidth which may be limited in some scenarios.

But if on the one hand the absence of real tests puts the grumbling at the level of bar chatter, it seems that NVIDIA already has an improved RTX 4070 in the pipeline, a possible GeForce RTX 4070 Ti (or Super if the company decides to reuse this term). The solution in question, according to the rumors spread by kopite7kimi, would be based on a fully active AD104 GPU with 7680 CUDA core but above all 12GB of GDDR6X memory at 21 Gbps on a 192-bit bus.

Such features could lead the RTX 4070 Ti to offer similar performance to the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, but above all the bandwidth to rise from the (alleged) 360 GB / s of the RTX 4070 to 504 GB / s. The bandwidth would be roughly half that offered by the RTX 3090 Ti, but other aspects such as clock rates would compensate for the deficit. As for the energy demand, the card would have a TGP of 400W, 100W higher than the RTX 4070 but 50W lower when compared to the RTX 4090 Ti.

At the moment the indiscretion must be taken for what it is, but we are pretty sure that the potential GeForce RTX 4070 Ti won’t see the light for a long timeunless the competition (here the latest from AMD) puts NVIDIA on the spot: generally the company led by Jensen Huang refreshes its GPUs a year after the introduction of the initial lineup.

According to rumors, NVIDIA is expected to introduce the GeForce RTX 4090 in Octoberthen following with the RTX 4080 and 4070 models by the end of the year: the first part of 2023 should instead welcome the debut of the RTX 4060.
