Is the end of power cables coming? USB Type-C Cables Announced Supporting 240W

This week Club 3D presented three new models of USB-C cables with the ability to deliver 240W of power. The company claims that the cables are already certified by USB Implementers Forum, USB-IF, and will begin shipping to markets starting next week. Unfortunately, none of them should officially arrive in Latin America.

The company called the new USB Type-C cables the “next big thing” in this technology. The cables offer a bidirectional supply voltage of up to 48V with 5A remaining, and are capable of charging even more power-hungry gaming laptops, according to Club 3D.

The cables are compatible with Windows, Apple OS X and Chrome OS.

These are the 3 models:

CAC-1573 Bidirectional USB2 Type-C Cable, Data 480 Mb, PD 240 W (48 V/5 A) EPR, M/M 2 m/6.56 ft : Allows data and power transmission in both directions. According to Club 3D, it supports USB 2.0 data up to 480 Mbps and output up to 240 watts (48V/5A) to charge and power a laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

CAC-1575 USB4 Gen2x2 Type C Bidirectional Cable 4K60Hz, Data 20Gbps, PD 240W (48V/5A) EPR, M/M 2m/6.56ft : Allows data and power transmission in both directions. The specifications of this model point to USB4 Gen2x2 data transmission of up to 20 Gbps, Video capable of up to 4K at 60 Hz and EPR (Extended Power Range) output of up to 240 Watt (48 V/5 A) for charging.

Bidirectional cable CAC-1576 USB4 Gen3 x2 Type-C 8K60Hz, Data 40Gbps, PD 240W (48V/5A) EPR, M/M 1m/3.28ft : allows data and power transmission in both directions. According to Club 3D, this is the model with the highest capacity, being able to transmit via USB4 Gen 3×2 Type-C, supports video with resolution up to 8K at 60Hz, data 40 Gbps, PD 240 W (48 V/5 A) EPR M/ m.
