A week after the announcement of Alder Lake, new images were leaked of the Z690 AORUS Xtreme, the top of the line motherboard that Gigabyte prepares for this platform, equipped with all the new generation features, including of course PCI-E 5.0 and DDR5 .
Another interesting detail that we see is that it has two PCI-E 5.0 slots instead of just one like the other leaked Gigabyte motherboards. According to Videocardz, they share bandwidth with each other, so the first runs at x16 if the second slot is not used, and if not, both run at x8. It is not clear if PCI-E 5.0 lanes are left for an M.2 SSD, although looking at the huge M.2 heatsink with two heatpipes located on top of the top PCI-E 5.0 x16 slot, we would not be surprised if there is a possibility of place an M.2 PCI-E 5.0 SSD in said M.2 slot.
Other specifications revealed include a Marvell AQC113C 10GbE Ethernet chip, two Intel 2.5GbE Ethernet chips, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and a Thunderbolt 4 port with support for displays up to 5K @ 60Hz. It is mentioned that there are 3 M.2 ports, although it is not clear which version of PCI-E they use.
The Z690 motherboards will hit the market on November 4 alongside the 12th Intel Core. Generation “Alder Lake-S”. Their pre-sales will begin on October 27, so we may see announcements that same day.
