MSI Recalls MAG CoreLiquid 240R, 360R AIOs Due to Sediment Buildup Issues

MSI is recalling its MAG CoreLiquid 240R / 360R AIO liquid coolers. According to the company, a “small portion of them produce sediment that can cause a blockage in the system.” Clearly an impediment to the flow of coolant through the cooling system is something that can cause problems in our PCs since it would reduce its performance and the CPU would overheat.

An AIO within the world of liquid cooling is a cooling system customized by a manufacturer.

If you own one of the mentioned cooling system models, MSI has commented on the symptoms to be aware of and has a page to make a claim. From there, the product serial number is entered to begin the RMA process.

If you own one of the products listed above and are not sure if it is working as it should, the first step is to enter your product’s serial number in the field on the bottom. bottom of this page.

MSI is a relative newcomer to the AiO liquid cooling market and introduced its first CoreLiquid products in May 2020.

Dear MSI users,

Recently, we have received feedback from some of our users who have experienced a drop in heat dissipation efficiency when using MAG CORELIQUID 240R / MAG CORELIQUID 360R liquids.

Our preliminary investigation has identified that a small portion of coolants produce sludge that can cause a blockage. This, however, will not cause any harm to your system as the processors are equipped with an overheating protection mechanism.

At MSI we care a lot about the overall experience of our users and have streamlined our processes to offer faster product replacement service.

Users can identify if they have an affected product by searching the product serial number We will provide a full product replacement service (MAG CORELIQUID 240R V2 / 360R V2) to all affected products that have abnormal heat dissipation (Example: The temperature CPU temperature is above 60°C at idle and the cooler is properly seated with thermal paste applied between the CPU and cooler).

Going forward, we will continue to work with our suppliers to thoroughly inspect all CORELIQUID 240R / 360R MAG liquids that may be potentially affected. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your local MSI customer service center.
