New firmware increases the hashrate of the RTX 3080 Ti by 21%

It appears that miners have discovered a way to get more performance out of RTX 3080 Ti LHR graphics cards. This is done by flashing the BIOS, and if they have an EVGA card, it can be done with a firmware update.

The user of Reddit @bravo_char, published information on how to improve the performance of the RTX 3080 Ti. According to him, in addition to the LHR mode, most RTX 3080 Ti with the default BIOS have a hidden power limit that kicks in during periods of high memory load, this is normal when mining. But the problem causes the GPU clock to drop and lower the hashrate.

Fortunately, the problem was reported to EVGA and the company provided a solution. So if they have an EVGA RTX 3080 Ti it would be better to update the firmware to unlock more mining performance on the cards. This can be done through EVGA’s Precision X1 software. After updating the firmware on an EVGA RTX 3080 Ti XC3, the card went from 66MH / s to 80MH / s, a gain of 21 percent.

However, this leaves other RTX 3080 Ti models, including the Founders Edition, without an official firmware update to fix power limit issues. As a workaround, they can download the EVGA RTX 3080 Ti XC3 BIOS with the updated firmware and update a non-EVGA RTX 3080 Ti to get the same effect.

However, they have to remember that updating the BIOS to another model of graphics card is quite dangerous if you do not know what you are doing, in addition to losing the warranty and if they do that, we have nothing to do with your hardware. He has problems…
