Now GPU-Z reports fake GPU

The latest update of the GPU-Z program focused on providing information about graphics cards has brought quite an interesting novelty. From now on, it will verify the GPU and inform the user about it in the event of a problem.

A cat in a bag, like a core on a laminate. It is not surprising that wherever there is money, fraudsters will end up there, as you might have noticed a dozen weeks ago. I mean the offers of graphics cards that tempted with a really low price. This has intensified especially in the past, when the devastating influence of cryptocurrencies on the market was on the lips of every player. Then the “entrepreneurs” came up with the brilliant idea of modernizing old graphics cards so that they resembled and were recognized as new ones. You know, here’s a new fan, a bit of red and black, and a new BIOS, and voilà. Of course, they did not inform customers about their practice.

Back then, buying such a GTX 980 with a core from several generations ago was nothing short of amazing. What is worst, however, the player not oriented on the market learned about all this only on the basis of gaming performance, because diagnostic programs did not always indicate any shortages, e.g. in VRAM. Fortunately, now GPU-Z reports about a fake GPU based on a wide collection of such fakes (marked, among others: G84, G86, G92, G94, G96, GT215, GT216, GT218, GF108, GF106, GF114, GF116, GF119, GK106 ).
