NVIDIA breaks revenue records, still with a 60% drop in the sale of mining cards

NVIDIA is reporting a revenue quarter of $ 7.1 billion for the third quarter of 2021, something unprecedented, where they also had a year-on-year growth of 50%. The gaming graphics card business and data center business posted a strong quarter, growing more than 40% YoY and 5% QoQ.

The chipmaker’s GPU sales have remained strong despite tight inventory and limited shipments. According to NVIDIA CFO Colette Kress, the supply of desktop GPUs has improved, but it is still below demand, which we all know is very strong.

The portable gaming device market continues to be a key segment for NVIDIA, with strong year-on-year growth in the third quarter, this is because this type of product had a greater demand in high-end equipment with RTX cards.

The greens say they have the longest “upgrade cycle” with gamers and content creators quickly upgrading from their GTX to RTX. A rough estimate from the company says that the share of RTX GPUs is 25% of all systems with GeForce GPUs.

Mining GPU sales fell 60% compared to the previous quarter

Now let’s move on to crypto mining, the demand for CMP cards for miners continued to decline in the third quarter, dropping 60% compared to the previous quarter. Revenue from CMP cards fell from more than $ 250 million in the second quarter of 2021 to just $ 105 million in the third quarter of 2021.

NVIDIA says that all Ampere, RTX 30 Series graphics cards shipped during Q3 2021 were LHR models that cut the Ethereum hash rate in half.

Ether’s high price continues to generate decent revenue for miners, and the acute shortage of GPUs makes it difficult to assess the situation.
