Silicon Lottery, known reality that tests and selects microprocessors for overclocking fans, has got to put your hand on a sample of Ryzen 9 3950X processors finding that most CPUs have been able to reach a frequency of 4.1 GHz.
Attendance has been achieved with all the cores active and is guaranteed by a series of very stringent stability tests carried out by Silicon Lottery. It is unclear how many Ryzen 9 3950X have tested the company, but in any case the information is interesting.
Statistics show that 56% of the Ryzen 9 3950X was able to reach 4.1 GHz on all 16 cores with a voltage (Vcore, the voltage supplied to the CPU) of 1,312V. Only 19% managed to touch 4.15 GHz.
Statistics released in August regarding the Ryzen 9 3900X (12 cores) indicated that 68% of the samples had reached 4.1 GHz and 35% the 4.15 GHz. It therefore follows that the chances of reaching a higher overclock they shrink by opting for the 16-core model – which is not strange, of course. However, remember that AMD has officially declared that the Ryzen 3000 manual OC margin is low.
Also worthy of interest is what Silicon Lottery found on the frequency front of theInfinity Fabric (FCLK). Tests have shown that only 12% of Ryzen 9 3950X samples achieved a stable FCLK of 1900 MHz.
If you don't want to run all cores on the same frequency, it appears that AM4 motherboards will add the ability to overclock CCX (Core Complex). This will allow users to overclock the cores at different speeds, rather than imposing a single frequency for each core.
All-core frequency | Vcore | VR Vout | LLC setting | % sample | Price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
4.15 GHz | 1.325V | 1.200V | The lowest | 19% | $ 1499.99 |
4.10 GHz | 1.312V | 1.187V | The lowest | 56% | $ 1049.99 |
4.05 GHz | 1.300V | 1.175V | The lowest | ninety two% | $ 899.99 |
4.00 GHz | 1.287V | 1.162V | The lowest | 100% | $ 849.99 |
Silicon Lottery has decided to put on sale five selected Ryzen 9 3950X models that sold out after a few hours. In addition to the four models with relative prices and guaranteed speeds / parameters that you see in the table, there is also a special FCLK edition tested to ensure that the IMC supports DDR4-3800 memory and runs the 1900 MHz Infinity Fabric interconnection with a SoC voltage of 1.1V. Since only 12% of the samples tested can achieve this, the asking price is around $ 1300.
Recall that the processor with 16 cores and 32 threads of AMD has a base frequency of 3.5 GHz and reaches 4.7 GHz only a single core. In the United States it has a list price of 749 dollars, in Italy it is found starting from just under 1000 euros, but availability is limited.
