Nvidia GeForce GTX 1180: Graphics Card Faster Than Titan Xp?

In the database The GPU appears to be an obvious engineering pattern.

An interesting development has happened in the world of graphics cards this morning, as the alleged specifications of the successor to the current GTX 1080 have been published.

An entry opposite the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1180 in the TechPowerUp GPU Database revealed details of the unreleased graphics card, albeit with the obvious caveats – “The data on this page may change in the future” – along with a notation that it is an engineering sample.

So yes, this is definitely speculation and should be taken with caution, but it is nonetheless interesting to see the details mapped out and hopefully they indicate that next generation graphics cards are on the horizon.

The GTX 1180 is likely to run 3584 CUDA cores versus 2560 GTX 1080 cores. It also offers 224 TMUs (versus 160 TMUs 1080) and is built on a 12nm process (versus 16nm 1080).

If this was not enough for you, the video memory becomes twice as much from the GTX 1080 – 16 GB and the memory became faster – GDDR6, the new video card has the highest performance in the segment, about 13 teraflops (take this figure as raw power). Not only is it significantly ahead of the 1080 generation, which boasts 8.7 teraflops, it is faster than the current Titan Xp, which squeezes out 12 teraflops.

Nvidia’s GTX 1080 is tuned to 200W when it comes to power consumption, which is slightly more than its predecessor (180W), but that’s not a monstrous boost considering the extra performance and resolution bump that will come with this card.

Again, let’s remember that there is no need to worry at this stage, since we do not know how reliable the data is for this GPU.

The new GeForce graphics cards, which are believed to be codenamed Turing, are set to go into mass production soon, with previous rumors suggesting a release could take place at Gamescom in August.

However, given the emergence of this data, perhaps we can hope for an early release, such as at Computex next month. At least the initial announcement.

Another interesting development you might have missed over the weekend is Nvidia decided to shut down its controversial GeForce affiliate program. The program had a lot of controversy, one of the accusations was that it harmed consumer choice when it came to buying graphics cards, which AMD quickly leveraged against Nvidia last month.

Given that the barrage of criticism has been accompanied by layoffs at the company, it should come as no surprise that the program was terminated.

Here are the best graphics cards you can buy in 2018.
