Nvidia RTX 3000 Graphics Cards Are Finally On Gaming Laptops!

The rules of the game are changing again.

Nvidia’s keynote at CES 2021 finally confirmed rumors that have been circulating for a while now: Team Green has announced its mobile range of RTX 3000 graphics cards built on the Ampere architecture for gaming laptops.

This is an incredibly exciting update as it could mean future gaming laptops could get some serious performance gains this year. After all, two years have passed since the release of the RTX 2080 graphics cards for laptops.

With Ampere offering DLSS-enabled ray tracing enhancements to improve performance at the highest resolutions with minimal impact on graphics fidelity, we will now see how these improvements are made to gaming laptops.

The new laptop GPUs are built on the Ampere architecture with second-generation RTX and third-generation Max-Q technology, which Nvidia promises will double the power efficiency of previous generations.

The ability to offer high performance in thin and light Max-Q laptops without overheating is a tricky balance, Nvidia says is powered by AI that helps manage power and heat dissipation.

Dynamic Boost 2.0 transfers power between the processor, graphics card and memory, again turning to artificial intelligence to better optimize power consumption and improve performance.

There is also Whisper Mode 2.0, which allows users to control the noise of the laptop’s cooling system, enhancing the possibility of personalizing the machine. Hopefully this will keep notebooks cool without fan noise.

Nvidia has announced the following graphics cards for laptops:
