One of the best graphics cards of all time. Verdict : The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 is by far the best graphics card on the market for most users. It offers RTX 2080 Ti performance for less than half the price, bringing 4K gaming to the mainstream for the first time.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 reminds us a lot of the 2014 GeForce GTX 970. When this graphics card came out, people were able to crank up 1080p graphics while maintaining high frame rates for a reasonable price.
Even games like The Witcher 3 and Batman: Arkham Knight, which are rightfully
considered graphically heavy games, continue to perform well on the GTX 970. It is this
feature that endowed the GTX 970 with a legacy that most video cards do not have – and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 went on in her footsteps.
However, the comparison is not perfect. The new RTX 3070 is much more expensive than its grandfather,
starting at $ 499 (RUR 35,000 + VAT), while the Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 hit the market for $ 329 (RUR 23,000 +

Pricing has remained on par with the Turing generation, so perhaps we should be glad Nvidia has

However, the GeForce RTX 3070 promises performance that rivals the RTX 2080 Ti at 4K resolution, which is extremely impressive considering the previous generation flagship sold for $ 1,199 (RUR 84,000 + VAT). For less than half the price you would have paid two years ago, you can get high-quality 4K games. Gone are the days when you had to shell out for a computer capable of running games in 4K resolution.
Unlike the GeForce RTX 3080 or RTX 3090, the new graphics card does not offer unprecedented levels of performance, but with an affordable price and high performance, it becomes the de facto best graphics card for most people.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 goes on sale today, October 28, for $ 499 (RUR 35,000 + VAT). This price
will be the starting price – in the Founders Edition, as third-party graphics cards will begin to increase the price tag.
In this price category, the performance of the video card is extremely far from competing AMD graphics, while the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT is 55% inferior to the performance of the new product, although it costs $ 399 (28,000r + VAT). | FEATURES & CHIPSET
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 is powered by an Ampere GA104 GPU. The new GPU
features 5,888 CUDA cores, split across 46 multi-threaded multiprocessors, based on the same
Ampere architecture as the RTX 3080 with the RTX 3090. And, as with the more expensive graphics cards, the RTX 3070 has many features to improve performance and additional energy efficiency that pushes the mid-range graphics card up a notch with the flagship of the previous generation.
The biggest improvement from the Turing generation to the Ampere is that both multiprocessor (SM) data paths now work with FP32, allowing you to double the number of CUDA cores on a multiprocessor. This is why, despite having 36 multiprocessors on the RTX 2070, the card only had 2304 CUDA cores. It is for this reason that, despite the fact that the RTX 3070 has increased the number of multiprocessors by only 27%, the number of CUDA cores has more than doubled, which significantly improves raw rasterization performance.
This is already an impressive increase, but at the same time we get second generation RT cores and third generation tensor cores, which increases the best trace performance and DLSS. Tracing gets especially fast as the new RT cores double the bandwidth of the first generation found on graphics cards like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080. That’s why in ray-traced workloads like the new 3DMark Port Royal benchmark, the RTX 3070 keeps up from the RTX 2080 Ti, although the latest generation flagship has more RT cores.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 is also the only
graphics card in the Ampere series
with a reasonable power consumption and a TGP (total graphics power) rating of 220W
, which is 100W less than the RTX
3080. This means that cooling requirements will be lower, as well as to power, which
will be great news for users of small cases.

smaller dimensions of the RTX
3070, it packs much more performance and makes it cheaper than the

Another piece of software in the lineup is RTX Voice, which debuted earlier
this year, eliminating any background noise from your microphone or even
your friends’ incoming voices.
There are also a couple of technologies that will directly benefit gamers, namely Nvidia Reflex and RTX IO. RTX IO is arguably the most important, especially with the next generation PS5 and Xbox Series X coming up to offer really fast data access with next generation SSDs.
Nvidia’s RTX IO is going to be paired with the upcoming Microsoft
DirectStorage API to optimize the delivery of data straight from the SSD
to the GPU. How does it work now that the game needs
access to data? This data is sent from your media to the processor, then to the
RAM, from where it is then returned to the processor and sent
to the video card, and then, finally, it is sent to the video memory.
RTX IO, when
available, will remove the processor from this chain, removing one of the
bottlenecks in today’s PC gaming. There are no games yet that use the
new API, but when
it does , we should see a noticeable reduction in load times and lower
overhead in heavy open world games like Assassin’s Creed
Odyssey.
Nvidia Reflex,
on the other hand, is available now and reduces latency between your
CPU and GPU by freeing up the render queue so frames are
rendered only when needed.
Like the rest of the Nvidia Amper series, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 is a full featured
product that goes beyond rendering modern PC games. If
any of these programs seem useful to you, an RTX graphics card should be
on your list, and the RTX
3070 will remain the best RTX graphics card on the market. Until Nvidia decides to release the GeForce RTX 3060, the RTX 3070 will remain the graphics card
we recommend to the vast majority of users.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TEST SYSTEM
This is the system we used to test the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition:
- Processor : AMD Ryzen 9 3950X (16 cores, up to 4.7 GHz)

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition is extremely similar to other Turing graphics cards, but they are much smaller due to the lower power and cooling requirements of the mid-range graphics card.
This is still a 2-slot graphics card, but it is much shorter than the competition at just 242mm in length, making it much easier to fit into smaller cases than the RTX 3080, which reaches 285mm in length, will do nothing like this. For users with smaller chassis like the NZXT H1, this graphics card makes more sense than the more powerful model.
However, unlike its larger siblings, the RTX 3070 has both fans on the same side, instead of the unique two-sided configuration of the RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 Founders Edition. The RTX 3070 received a similar PCB
, but the layout is much tighter, allowing the cooler to extend beyond the PCB. This means that the second fan still
directs air through the back of the graphics card.
This solution is not as effective as the RTX 3080 or RTX 3090, but it really isn’t
necessary at all . The TGP (Total Graphics Power) is only 220W versus 320W for the RTX 3080, which makes temperature management much easier. The maximum temperature of the RTX 3070 remained at around 72 degrees Celsius, even with lower power consumption.
However, even with lower power consumption, you still have to use Nvidia’s new 12-pin power connector, which doesn’t make much sense. The adapter is included in the package, but it is from 8-pin to 12-pin, which
makes you wonder if you really need a 12-pin. Many PSU makers come with custom cables to get rid
of the extra clutter that adapters bring, but that’s exactly what you need to fork out for.
Aside from the annoying power connector, the RTX 3070 Founders Edition looks promising and will fit seamlessly into just about any build. The current Founder Edition is one of the most compelling we’ve seen, and
considering how good they are, FE cards are our de facto recommendation – if you can find it.
| PERFORMANCE
The Nvidia GeForce RTX
3070 is an amazing graphics card precisely because it delivers
flagship-grade performance at mid-range. Benchmark by Benchmark The GeForce RTX 3070 offers
extremely smooth gameplay and high 4K performance,
as well as high frame rates at lower resolutions. If you
plan on using a 1080p 144Hz monitor with no graphics
degradation , the RTX 3070 is a great choice.
Even in challenging games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Red Dead Redemption 2, the RTX 3070 promises incredible
performance, hitting 75 FPS in the latest 1080p game given the

the largest gap between video cards was in Grand Theft Auto V, where the RTX
3070 scored 96 FPS against 86 FPS
2080 Ti. The difference is
only 11% and only in one game, but that says a lot.
As for AMD,
we’re left to say that Team Red is left hoping Big Navi becomes an
extremely impressive graphics card. AMD’s closest competitor on the market is
currently the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, which is 38-64% slower in
4K resolution than the RTX
3070. Of course, the RTX RT
5700 XT is cheaper at $ 399 (28,000r + VAT), but so far the difference is the price

When it comes to graphics cards that have had a major impact
on the market over the past decade, it’s not the Titans or the xx80s. It was graphics cards like the GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, GTX 970 or Radeon RX
580 that have become widely loved for their great performance at a
reasonable price that didn’t leave users jittery.
Only time will tell if Nvidia’s price hikes that started with the Turing generation will affect whether the
new RTX 3070 will be as
loved as other iconic graphics cards, but right now it promises the best
price- performance ratio in the graphics card market. Now we just have to wait for
AMD to come out with the new Big Navi.

BUY IF …
You want to play games in 4K resolution . The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 can play almost any 4K game without sacrificing graphics settings. However, in some games, such as Red Dead Redemption 2, you will need to disable a couple of settings.
You need a graphics card with excellent value for money . At $ 499 (Rs 35,000 + VAT) we would hesitate to call the RTX 3070 a cheap graphics card, but compared to more expensive flagships like the RTX 3080, it promises great performance for the money.
You have a small PC case . The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition doesn’t offer the same giant cooler as the RTX 3080, which will make it easier to fit the new graphics card into smaller enclosures.
DO NOT BUY IF …
You don’t want to deal with a 12-pin power connector . The RTX 3070 Founders Edition still relies on the nasty 12-pin connector despite its lower power requirements. If you don’t want to mess with an adapter, choose a graphics card from the aftermarket.
