NVIDIA, three new video cards in December? RTX 2060 12 GB, 3070 Ti 16 GB and 3080 12 GB

NVIDIA might announce three new video cards in December, although two will actually only be available with the new year. According to the Asian leaker hongxing2020, the December 7 the company led by Jensen Huang will presenter and make the GeForce RTX 2060 with 12GB of GDDR6 memory, double the model introduced in January 2019.

This alleged model was talked about for the first time in September and would serve as a solution to alleviate the shortage of the latest generation video cards, being based on a 12 nanometer GPU made by TSMC, therefore a production technology different from Samsung’s 8 nanometers. of the GeForce RTX 3000. The new card could catalyze a part of the demand of consumers and system integrators, improving (hopefully) even slightly the availability of Ampere solutions.

The same leaker reports that NVIDIA would have set the date of the December 17 to unveil the GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB and the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16GB, although to see them in stores () you would have to wait for theJanuary 11, 2022. For some time there has been talk of a renewal of the high-end offer by NVIDIA and many specifications have circulated, including Ti models and alleged SUPER solutions. It is undoubtedly boiling something in the pot after the introduction of the 3070 Ti and 3080 Ti models this summer.

The RTX 3080 Ti has 12GB of GDDR6X memory, while the RTX 3080 that kicked off the new generation stops at 10GB. The RTX 3080 has 8704 active cores, while the RTX 3080 Ti reaches 10240, so in addition to the memory the alleged RTX 3080 12 GB could see some news also in terms of cores. A few weeks ago there was talk of a RTX 3080 SUPER with 8960 active cores, with 12GB of GDDR6X memory on a 384-bit bus just as the latest rumors report.

The 16GB RTX 3070 Ti, on the other hand, could simply have double the memory of the current model and retain the GA104 GPU with 6144 CUDA cores, the top of that design.
