Nvidia will come in 2020 under the hoods of Volvo cars

If anyone is wondering why Nvidia excels AMD in the general market, now has found the answer. The Greens are simply fighting for every segment where their technology can prove useful. Hence the cooperation between Volvo and Nvidia.

You probably already guess that artificial intelligence and autonomous cars are at stake. Nvidia itself has been operating in this market for a long time, and the fruits of this work have started to appear for many months. This time it was Volvo that announced a partnership with the company, under which the car manufacturer will use Drive AGX Xavier computers in its new generation of electric vehicles. This system allows entry to the fourth level of autonomous driving, but will initially be limited to level “2+”. This means that the driver, after activating the mode, will have to be careful on the road, but not keep his hands on the steering wheel.

The first Volvo cars powered by this system are to be available at the beginning of 2020. Interestingly, they will monitor not only the vehicle’s surroundings, but also track the movements of the driver’s head and eyes. All this to detect potential events that the car’s sensors have failed to interpret. Volvo is, of course, not the first car manufacturer to opt for Nvidia solutions. This year, the company started working with Volkswagen, and even earlier with Uber or Daimler.
