Radeon RX 6000M and Radeon RX 6000S, AMD Introduces New Dedicated Notebook GPUs | CES 2022

AMD has announced the new dedicated notebook GPUs Radeon RX 6000S and the expansion of the Radeon RX 6000M offering. Let’s go in order.

The new Radeon RX 6000S proposals are three: RX 6800S, RX 6700S e RX 6600S. All GPUs are optimized for high energy efficiency and therefore aim to have a high performance per watt ratio. AMD’s new proposals are aimed in particular at the category of “thin & light” gaming notebooks, a market segment that is growing three times faster than other gaming segments. In short, trivializing, now even AMD has its Max-Q solutions.

As a result, these new GPUs from AMD, also based on the RDNA 2 architecture and produced at 7 nanometers, allow you to create thinner notebooks, under 20 mm, and light with a weight under 2 kilograms. AMD, despite the attention to consumption, promises high performance in 1080p gaming.

Template Productive process CU / SP Game Clock Memory Bus Infinity Cache Bandwidth TGP
Radeon RX 6800S 7 nanometers 32 / 2048 1975 MHz 8 GB GDDR6 16 Gbps 128 bit 32 MB 256 GB/s 100 W
Radeon RX 6700S 7 nanometers 28 / 1792 1890 MHz 8 GB GDDR6 14 Gbps 128 bit 32 MB 224 GB/s 80 W
Radeon RX 6600S 7 nanometers 28 / 1792 1881 MHz 8 GB GDDR6 14 Gbps 128 bit 32 MB 224 GB/s 80 W

The RX 6800S able to exceed 100 fps with maximum details in most games, managing according to the company to exceed 10% of average in selected titles the GeForce RTX 3080 mobile, at least in the version integrated in the Razer Blade 14 used for the comparison. The Radeon RX 6700S capable of exceeding 100 fps in Full HD with high details and the RX 6600S the 80 fps always in high details.

AMD also has expanded the Radeon RX 6000M range with some new models – three made at 7 nanometers and two at 6 nanometers – offering more performance. Here are the technical specifications:

Template Productive process CU / SP Game Clock Memory Bus Infinity Cache Bandwidth TGP
Radeon RX 6850M XT 7 nanometers 40 / 2463 MHz 12 GB GDDR6 18 Gbps 192 bit 96 MB 432 MB / s 165W
Radeon RX 6650M XT 7 nanometers 32 / 2162 MHz 8 GB GDDR6 16 Gbps 128 bit 32 MB 256 GB/s 120W
Radeon RX 6650M 7 nanometers 28 / 2222 MHz 8 GB GDDR6 16 Gbps 128 bit 32 MB 256 GB/s 120W
Radeon RX 6500M 6 nanometers 16 / 2191 MHz 4 GB GDDR6 18 Gbps 128 bit 16 MB 288 GB/s 50W
Radeon RX 6300M 6 nanometers 12 / 1512 MHz 2 GB GDDR6 18 Gbps 128 bit 8 MB 288 GB/s 25W

Five models have been introduced: the RX 6850M XT which promises performanceup to 7% higher than the RX 6800M and is aimed at 1440p gamers with high details, the RX 6650M XT and RX 6650M which are expected to be up to 20% faster than the Radeon RX 6600M and finally the RX 6500M and RX 6300M, listed by AMD as “up to 200% faster than the GeForce MX450 “.
