Radeon RX 6950 XT, RX 6750 XT and RX 6650 XT to debut: what changes from existing models

After months of rumors AMD has renewed the offer of desktop video cards with three new models that take the name of Radeon RX 6950 XT, Radeon RX 6750 XT e Radeon RX 6650 XT and, in the reference version, they are characterized by a completely black heat sink.

Three cards that are aimed respectively at gaming in 4K, 1440p and 1080p presenting themselves with clock frequencies, both in terms of GPU and memory, higher than the models already on the market. However, the amount of memory or the number of active stream processors do not change. By virtue of these changes, consumption rises slightly.

Let’s go into details and analyze how the new models differ from the previous solutions. Let’s start from Radeon RX 6950 XTthe new top of the range of the RX 6000 series. Identical in terms of technical specifications to the RX 6900 XTthe latest arrival sees an increase in the Game Clock and Boost Clock from 2015 MHz and 2250 MHz of the 6900 XT to 2100 MHz and 2310 MHz. in addition, the memory goes from 16 to 18 Gbps. Consequently the TBP goes from 300 to 335W.

The Radeon RX 6900 XT will not leave the scene but will continue to remain available on the market even after the arrival of the Radeon RX 6950 XT. The prices of the two solutions should on the other hand be very similar by virtue of the few differences in terms of specifications: we are talking about a pricelist starting at $ 1099 on the AMD website for the newcomer.

Regarding the Radeon RX 6750 XT, same script: higher GPU frequencies and faster memory (again from 16 to 18 Gbps). Also in this case the TBP rises from the 230W of the RX 6700 XT ai 250W of the newcomer. The frequencies rise very little, passing from the Game Clock of 2424 MHz of the 6700 XT to 2495 MHz of the 6750 XT. The Boost Clock increases from 2581 MHz to 2600 MHz. The card will be available starting at $ 549 on the AMD website. La Radeon RX 6700 XT will remain on the market even after the debut of the 6750 XT. Interestingly, the reference version switches from a heatsink with two fans to one with three fans.

Finally, let’s talk about the Radeon RX 6650 XT. The Game Clock rises respectively from 2359 to 2410 MHz while the Boost Clock goes from 2589 to 2635 MHz. The GDDR6 memory on board instead goes from 16 to 17.5 Gbps. Finally, the TBP goes from 160W to 180W. The price of the 6650 XT starts from $ 399 and contrary to other solutions, this card replaces the Radeon RX 6600 XT.

In terms of performance we can only speak directly of the Radeon RX 6650 XT, which in our tests was 4% faster than the 6600 XT in Full HD. Similar gaps should also concern the other models compared to the predecessors, in the face of the interventions on the frequencies by AMD.

Although the list does not currently include Italy, AMD informs us that “starting today, anyone who purchases a Radeon product from a retailer participating in the promotion will receive a code to redeem during the quarter to get Saints Row and Sniper. Elite 5, as well as other titles that will be revealed prior to the launch of the promotion (bundle may vary based on product purchased). Gamers can visit this address to find the list of participating partners and check for future updates and promotion instructions. “
